Totally agree with that! People need to stop scapegoating him!

But, he shouldn't have taken so much credit for the boom years, if he's not going to admit his part in such a huge bust.

Actually, several of the actions taken by Gordon Brown have had a direct impact on the severity of the crisis in Britain. Even a five minute glance at the economist would tell you that Britain is expected to do much, much worse than other western countries.
Flashhh, Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....

The economic situation we're in now has nothing to do with Gordon Brown but people living beyond their means and the banks taking no notice of this so lending regardless.

The American downturn has caused it all because they essentially sold off their debts to hedge fund investors here in the UK, because they saw it as an opportunity to turn the debts into profits. These investors have had to write off billions of pounds in losses because Americas interest rates plummeted.

So now investors here are too nervy to buy any kind of investment linked to mortgages...which has meant banks can't lend like they used to.

I think it's a good thing, now silly chavs buying 50 inch plasma's and hot tubs with absolutely no capability to ever pay these things off, can no longer borrow.

David Cameron wouldn't have had a clue how to deal with it all. Well done Gord.

From the front page a newspaper to your mind, with literally no thought whatsoever. Ah, the joys of mass media. How about declining international competitiveness and growing national debt and a huge increase in the public sector workforce? Do they affect us at this time? Or is the entire world recession attributed solely to a subprime mortgage market?
...never a frown with Gordon Brown!

People blaming him for our economy are making a very unfair scapegoat, in my view. I think the sentence "Or is the entire world recession attributed solely to a subprime mortgage market", where you seem to imply that Brown is responsible for global troubles, says it all.

Britain is particularly badly hit (though arguably less so than the states) because financial services are such a large proportion of our exports. It is fictional to blame this on what Brown is responsible for, national debt.

Brown's response to the crisis has generally been good, he has generally taken the right actions at the right time. You also have to remember that noone (with the exception of Vince Cable who noone listens to anyway) saw this coming and raised objections to the national debt.

It is particularly foolish for people to start voting Conservative because of this! The Conservatives promised to match labour levels of public spending in the 2005 elections, and chose to base their fight on immigration issues. It is only now with hindsight that the Conservatives are looking back and criticising Labour. Don't fall for this nonsense people.

Obviously.... I could have told you that for free ... we are of course an intellectual economy and we specialise in FINANCE ..., so indeed we will be hurt really bad. If you would like me to go into further explanitation as to why Mr.Brown is not the ONLY one to be blamed for this, do feel free to take this over through private message, I would love that!
Sorry fellahs, but you're both actually making up what I said and then arguing with your own words. At no point did I state or imply or even vaguely hint Gordon Brown was responsible for a global financial crisis.

Statements I did make:
There is a global financial crisis
It is not entirely due to the US mortgage market
Britain will be badly hit
Gordon Brown is partly responsible for this

Anyway, the next time you want to make something I said up, be a bit more creative.
his the best person we have, so before you all troy fan boys jump in saying they will do it better, what are you going to do, cut public spending, cut spending when the economy needs money pumped into it, great idea that, it make it worst if you cut spending, but as long as the rick are ok you don't mind

Gordon Brown for the time being is the best person to run the country

Actually, he is James Brown, Godfather of Soul. I think he should have kept his real name.
