I was just wouldering if any1 could post some info about student finance. my mum earns under 25k so i understand il get a £500 bursarie from hudersfeild but when do you apply and what should be payed back. for some reason i think ive heard that you dont have to pay it back in some situations because of parent situations etc?

The bursary from the University doesn't have to be paid back.

bursaries are money for you to keep what you do not have to pay back. you will recieve them around January or February from starting in the September.

with regards the other costs, the government give you certain amounts for maintenence (accomodation food etc)
If I'm not mistaken, the rate is just over 2,900 per year, and is means tested, so it depends on your parents income etc.
I'm wondering about when to apply though, cos i'm in the same situation as you!

for student finance you apply on www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance, set up an account and get all your details in. for accomodation decided where you want to go and apply for a pack you have to wait for your results though to apply as you dont get the deposit back. also you dont have to pay burseries and grants back only tuition loans and maintanence loans, which you pay back when you start eaning 15,000 a year =]
