Default Judicial Reviews and Democracy.

I'm a bit stuck on Judicial Reviews, as there is hardly any information on them in the textbook =_=;; And I have this question:

'Why are judicial reviews important for a democracy?'

I can only think why they wouldnt be good in a democracy, and that is because the judges are allowed to override decisions and this isn't democratic because they haven't been voted into power by the people and are not representive of their views, whereas the MPs are. But I dont have anything for why they would be important in a democracy.
Thanks (:

You can start with the proposition that 'Judicial reviews are a challenge to the way in which a decision has been made, rather than the rights and wrongs of the conclusion reached' and then analyse and elaborate why it's important to challenge THE WAY in which a decision has been made in a democratic society.

There is an excellent interview (video) with the Lord Chief Justice where he explains about the Judicial Review. You might want to watch it in order to get some ideas for your essay:

Please update me if you found this to be of any help.
