for my induction (and first 3 weeks at boots as they had no uniform..) i wore a black skirt and white shirt with dark coloured cardis etc. nowt too bright else you'd stand out against the drab boots uniformed people !
you'll probabaly be trained on the tills after you've read loads and loads of leaflets about how to carry things...and watch some god awfully naff videos. scary at first but once you get into the swing of it, it's all finey winey. i looove my job !
what department are you going to be on btw?

I was both operations and sales assistant :P You are lucky not to be working in my store as the operations xmas temps start at 6am for their shift :P

You will be till trained on the induction day as EVERYONE has to be till trained. When you walk by and you see the queue is busy you are meant to jump on a till (if you are allowed) and help bring the queue down

Dress smartly as you will be on the shop floor. I ended up actually doing some of my operations job after the induction as we finished early lol.

P.s Boots trousers itch like hell!

Unlikely you'll be on the till I think, that's why you're operations and not sales assistant. Obviously every store will be different though.

I am operations too but late night after the customers have gone. Last year I was on the till and tbh I prefered that as it was busier and had more interaction with people but this certainly isn't bad.

Exclamation First Day

Helloo, i've got my first day at boots this weekend! Had my induction the other day, just wore black trousers and white shirt (which i will probably have to wear this weekend as i still havent got my uniform).
The thing is, i'm not too sure what to do when i turn up on saturday! I start at 9, so should i get there 10-15 minutes early? Will i be thrown in at the deep-end and be on my own all day? Where should i go when i first arrive? Also, when should i expect my uniform to arrive considering the postal strikes and what not? Ahh! My first job, if you couldnt tell, will be greatful for any information.
Thanks.

A firiend of mine started at Boots, in Kingston last week, she had no uniform either, they said to her to wear smart clothing and they gave her a "Boots Tabard" thing to wear, whilst she was working.

10-15mins sounds about right. Don't be nervous about being thrown in at the deep end. I think they'll understand that you're new, and if there is anything you're not sure about just ask. I asked a million questions (still do, lol) and no one seemed to have a problem.

Still, it does depend on where you work and who you're working with. Just be confident and you'll be alright =]. Good luck!

hey dudes!
I had my induction last Thursday and my first shift tomorrow...I'm on customer care! Only problem is, I have absolutely nooo idea what customer care entails!
They didn't really explain what happens on different types of shift, but I do know that it comes under 'extra duties' because my proper timetabled shift work doesn't start until the 23rd november.
For people who work at Boots- will I be expected to know what I'm doing already somehow? Or do you think someone will help me out and tell me exactly what to do? (whilst expecting me to use a little initiative as well)
Thanks
