i've just had a quick look through some of the universities requirements, and some of them specify that an English Higher is required and others don't. This suggests that is is possible to get into medicine without the English, provided you do your research and are careful over which you apply to.

What universities specified English Higher? The last time I checked, none of Scottish universities mentioned it.

have a look through UCAS - i can't remember which or whether they were scottish or english unis
