but even if it had +44 the number would have 12 digits, not 10. Or am I having another epic math fail moments again? :P

Usually is has 11 OP, the number could be from overseas though :h:

Haha, yeah it would have 12. No idea how it's possible to get 10 because all international codes would be 2/3 digits.

Argh O.K so really it should be 044 even though it says 44. ? Thanks for your help, I'm new to it all!

No, it should be 44 + 11 digits, or 0 + 11 digits.

44 is the international code which makes the 0 unnecessary.

Do you not mean +44 + last 10 digits of mobile number. If it begins with 07 on the other hand it should be full 11 digits.

It can be 12 though, i know 1 person with one.

If its international... then 00 44... but to be honest, mobiles sometimes do weird things and make "07....." equal "+447....."

07 does equal +447 though.

I'm really confused now, but I'll just assume it's a 10 digit number, thanks everyone
A number is 10 digits, it is then prefixed with either 0 or +44, if you're ringing from abroad to the UK number you need to use +44(UK ccountry code), or if ringing from within the UK, then you just need a 0.

Do you know it off by heart? It can be very important. Apparently it's a wrong number when I tried dialing it. I guess the number is: 01189 998819 (Burghfield Common, Berks)

Anyway, a mobile number goes as follows:

Lets use: 07123 456789

When we call the number from the UK, we dial 07123 456789 (where 07123 is the area code).

When we call an international number from the UK, we first dial 00 (the access code) and then the country code (in the UK it's 44). We then dial the area code, but without the 0 (eg 7123) and then we dial the number (456789).

So we have the number: 00 44 7123 456789

But this will only work in countries where the access code is 00, such as the UK. Dialing this number in the US will not work you will have to dial 011 instead of 00.

For this reason, mobile phones show an internationally unique number:
+44 7123 456789

You have to enter the access code (00 in the UK, 011 in the US) before you dial the +44....

The reason we have the 0 at the start of the number for local calls is to keep more important numbers (eg 112 or 999) separate and not to take up too much number space. We then have 01, 02 and 03 numbers for land lines, 07 for mobiles, 08 for free phone/fixed rate and 09 for premium rate numbers.

We also then have 00 for international calls. This way, all international calls can be recognised (only 1% of all possible numbers are taken up).

Area code on a mobile number? That's pretty damn clever

Area codes = mobile networks.

I got halfway though typing it when I realised I was talking general rubbish. I posted it nonetheless.
That's a bit rude you shouldn't leave a message like that to read it's bad manners

Your question doesnt make sense. I think your digit counting is as bad as your grammar
