I'm strongly considering going interrailing from mid-May to mid-June. I'd like to mainly visit Poland, Czech Rep, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia, although maybe spend a bit of time in Germany, Austria and Italy. I've spoken to a few people about these plans who say that it isn't worth buying an Interrail pass, as rail travel in many of these countries is quite cheap, and I'd be better off just buying the tickets as I go along. Is there anywhere that would show example fares for journeys between cities in Central and Eastern Europe?

I've already booked my flights, to berlin and back from krakow. I didn't really think of not using an interrail pass! I am supposed to be booking it tomorrow! If you do go to Italy or Germany, i think getting an interrail pass will be your best bet as they are fairly expensive. I have know idea really what i'm talking about, i just want advice on where to go. I think we are mainly thinking about staying in eastern europe for the majority of our trip. We only have 16 days between our flights though.. Advice please?! I really want to go to Macedonia, but it's just too far away.
