Topshop (Arcadia) pay cuts!!

So I work at Topshop and have recently found out that we will not be getting time and a third on sunday anymore. Everyone is pissed off at my branch. The other more experienced staff are all quitting or refusing to work Sundays anymore.
What should I do?? Need the money so can't quit but won't be earning much after pay cut anyway........

we need to strike socialist comrade! go to your union!
That's life! . . .

I guess its better than having no job! and if you quit now, you are going to find it incredibly hard to find another job! . .

My advice: Stay put in the meantime!

PS: I use get Sunday extra pay for working at a different supermarket, I have moved to another supermarket and I get bugger all extra for working Sunday. Yes its annoying, but its better than nothing I guess .. .
be really really grateful you still have a job!

If you leave, good luck finding a new job -_-
the thing is sunday is such a **** shift to work the only reason any of us bothered to do it was the extra money. most ppl are hungover, the customers are always the awkward ones trying to return stuff they can't and becasue of shorter sunday opening hours he shifts are shorter.
would strike but dont have a union. its only a part-time job!!

Look, you're still getting paid, you still have a job. They have the right to cut your pay, as long as it doesn't go under minimum wage.

And you're still earning a lot more than some people are at the moment, so stop complaining!

I used to work at M&S and got no extra Sunday pay ...lifes a bitch
Having a job is better than no job if you need money so you will just have to accept it.

yeah granted i am earning more than the growing no. of unemployed ppl but after i dont think there will be a huge no. of ppl on less especially considerin with the sunday hours situation i can only work 4 or 5 hour shifts.

may need to get another job to pay for petrol to get to college etc but dont exactly have the time.

Agreed.

OP, think of all those people who have lost their jobs since this whole recession malarky started? .. . . and you still have yours (even if its part time) and you still go home with a wage. Unlike thousands of people who are struggling to make ends meet.

Ditch the car or only use the car when you have to and use public transport . . .(if your college is within a reasonable distance) - its what I have done and I have saved a lot of money doing it.

yeah i would i f i could. in fact i would never have got a car to start with but i live in a tiny village with no public transport. and i mean NO public transport, not even one bus!!
If you'd been in a union they wouldn't have been allowed to do it. I used to work at Tesco, where a lot of workers were in a union, and Tesco couldn't touch workers' contract once they'd been drawn up. So the people that had been there ages got double pay on sundays, I had time and a half, and more recent people had something crap like time plus £1. USDAW is the union for shopworkers, but there's no point joining unless lots of arcadia workers joined at the same time.
Stay put, if you need the dosh, but actively look for something better paid.

Awwww, fair enough then. I haven't been on the road since Oct and although I do moan about public transport and it being cold at the bus stop, have saved a good £200+ on petrol.

All I can say is ok yes its annoying and abit of a piss take for your work place to stop the Sunday extra time, but you still have your job which is the main thing. And when ever you have time and they are offering the overtime, take it - to try and make up for the short fall in the stopping of the Sunday extra.

Hope that is some help to you.
stay put for now, if it gets any worse quit, no point working that hard for pennies

FOREGET all the people talking about being grateful for a job, what if a teacher's pay was cut to min wage, is it legal or right? Do you have a contract? Have a read of it or maybe visit your local citizens advice (or maybe there is somthing online). You need to find if it is OK to cut pay.

Big deal. I worked for min wage in a club where I was working unsocial hours, in a potentially dangerous environment selling a drug (drink). I had more responsibility and I was also subject to damge to my health by working nights and also damage to my hearing. **** happens.
