Well the NHS doesn't offer them to you until you're 25 and privately they cost about 70 quid!

I think it's annoying that my sister gets the cervical cancer jab and I don't. Damn not being 12 years old.

you can get it if you were under 18 on 1 september 08. however, one of my friends is 19 now and her local gp says she can get it if some people decide not to have theirs which is pretty much guaranteed.

In South Africa, you have one at 18 or if you are sexually active at a younger age than 18 then they start as soon as are sexually active. Also, in SA, you are meant to have them every year and yet in England and Wales, I think it is only every 3 or 5 years or something like that. I'm not a GP or a med student so couldn't tell you why. Personally, as much as I hate them, I am more comfortable having regular checks.

I'm with the university health centre, so no chance of many people under 18 rejecting the opportunity for a jab.

I never understood why people actually wanted one of these. But you can still get them if you request one from the GP (as said above) because there are people, like myself, who rejected the jab.

As for not doing cervical smears before 25 on the NHS, they would come back positive so rarely that its not cost effective.

ie that money can be better spent elsewhere.

I think it depends where you live but it's just been on the news they's trying to lower it to 20 across the country.

Well, after I got the leaflet though I rang up my nurse and asked what were the long/short term effects of having this jab, if there are any. And according to her there is a possibilty of infirtility .

I am 21 and have a child and can't have one. My GP said she can do it but lab will only send it back as i am under 25.
I have had serious problems awell, which they can't find any thing wrong.
I have ALL the symptoms of cervical cancer.
I am at the hospital all the time scans, checks so on but no smear.
Now thats not right.

are you sure, because the NHS website doesn't mention anything about this. Surely she said that HPV can cause you to become infertile, not the vaccine.
