hiii

just wondered if someone could help me
i'm writing about complexometric titrations
..and i wondered why the indicator used changes colour when complexed or uncomplexed?

for example, eriochrome black t is blue when uncomplexed and red when complexed (eg. with calcium ions)

any help would be appreciated! im all confuseeed

thanks!

I am thinking that when it binds with calcium ions, there should be some energy transitions, hence photons are emitted/absorbed, hence the colour change(some wavelengths of light now get absorbed differently)
