Medical Experience ... Medisix 09 ?

Im going to Medisix in march 09 for the core day
is anyone else going ?

i have no idiea how this works so if i could get any replys thanks !!!

Iv filled out loads of applications aswell to get experience in a hospital enviroment
has anyone else been able to get any, coz im so stuck

How have you been going about trying to get work experience

If you can't get into hospitals have you tried GP practices or local nursing homes?

I swear if i ever get into medicine im going to set up something like this and make a fortune. You really need to concentrate on getting proper work experiance. I was always under the impression that uni dont like these course as they purely show the haves from the have nots.

Try contacting the PALS office at all your local hospitals that you are willing to travel to about volunteering.
Ring or write to every GP practice you can travel to about work experiance
Failing that try local are homes.

Yeah brokenangel is right... although courses like Medisix (I went last year) can help, as far as your university application is concerned it is a lot more beneficial to try and get some work experience. It is difficult to find but it is out there, just write to/email all of your local hospitals explaining your situation, go and speak to your GP, enquire about local volunteering oppertunities at hospices and care homes ect. It is out there, you just have to work damn hard to find it!
