Cool Music Technology as an extra?

I am taking 4 a levels in september, including music.
You could either take music or music technology, you could not choose both and the subject the school went with the majority, music.

I am interested in studio production etc and write my own songs on my home computer so i am wondering if it is possible to take music technology as an extra. They have taught this subject before.

Im sure the school will be more than happy to help and i won't mind if its an after school thing etc. I like to think i can apply myself well and would work and i think its not a major subject that would require lots of extra work?

So any thoughts about it or taking it, as an extra, or any subject as an extra?

thanks
