who gave the British government the right to go and rule in other countries?

I don't think that people have the right to be ruled by people of their own race, which seems to be the basis of your argument. If I did, I'd be joining the BNP.

There's no such thing as a "right to rule", however governments do it anyway.

so you are saying that it's ok for goverments to torture people and to abuse their power and we should do nothing about it?

No, I'm saying quite the opposite.

'utter nonsense?' how to you justify events like this then:

I don't need to. I'm not sure if you're reading what I'm saying: every government abuses its citizens to one level or another, the British were in most cases better than any alternatives offered. The occasional massacre is hardly unexpected: hell, government forces have massacred a fair few native British people in the United Kingdom in their time.

India used to be a very rich country before the British empire came along.

Well, the rulers of India were rich and the people were poor - which was a fact still largely true both before and after the British period; although by and large the British were responsible for the birth of an Indian middle class - in economic terms, we benefited the average Indian.
