Re: when does the new F1 season startI thought they still had to use two different compounds per race - the soft and the hard? Only that this year Bridgestone have made the gap between the two tyres greater so its more of a gamble which one you run longer on.(Original post by Formula 1)
Slick tyres only on the road, no more soft and hard interchanging!! -
Re: when does the new F1 season start
Yeh the using both compoud rule remains I believe. Bridgestone were experimenting with how they could illistrate this tothe specatators as they did before with the white line in the groove.
And as said above the soft tyre is softer.......so will be interesting how lewis gets on with that :P -
Re: when does the new F1 season start(Original post by Untitled258)
they are defiantly using the hard/soft tyre rule.
The soft tyres have a green line on the wall, and the full wet have the stripe in the same place as last year, just its green now.
what?? im confused so whats changed... the colours on the tyre? because thats sound like the same rule as last year. -
Re: when does the new F1 season startIt's more of less exactly the same as last year, apart from the soft tyre is now softer (or the hard tyre harder... can't remember which way round!) and the white stripe is now a green stripe on the sidewall. So if James Allen was still commentating he'd have to re-learn everything and then take great delight in reminding us that not only does the green stripe indicate the soft tyre but it's now changed from last year's white stripe(Original post by ticktockclock)

Re: when does the new F1 season startNope. The rule changes are as follows (or at least the ones I can remember...)(Original post by ticktockclock)
so is this the new rule that evryones talking about
The aerodynamics have had an overhaul, as you can probably see by looking at pictures of the cars. The front wing is wider and lower and the rear wing is higher and narrower. All the silly little bits of wing that stuck out of the bodywork have also gone, sidepods are smaller and bargeboards have gone. Drivers can also adjust the angle of attack of the front wing from the cockpit.
Slick tyres are back and the grooved tyres of last year have gone.
Engines now have to last 3 races(ish) - I think each driver is allowed either 6 or 8 engines per season.
Teams can now use a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that stores energy from braking in order to give you a short boost every now and again when you want. -
Re: when does the new F1 season startNothing.... Except there slicks not grooved.(Original post by ticktockclock)

Someone was saying there not doing the 1 set of each tyre in a race rule anymore, and i was correcting them.
