Have just got my mooncup and tried putting it in, and it seemed relatively easy, but I'm worried as how do you know you've got it in right/securely? How do you know that a seal has been formed? I tried to feel all round it, and it felt ok, but i'm not sure.
I started using mine a few days ago and wow. Very impressed. I started by using it when I was at home to make sure I got used to it and had no nasty experiences
it forms the seal pretty easily... if it's unfolded, it should be fine.
And how far up do i put it? It started to unfold slightly when I put it in, but it was hardly in at all so I pushed it further up, but then I couldn't get it in any further.
Veeeery good environment wise (just think how many tampons/towels you send to landfills every month), and also an incredible saving (£17.50 once in 6 years, compared to numerous packs of tampons/towels every month).
Plus no risk of TSS (a great worry to many girls), and it doesn't dry you out down there, so no pain/discomfort.

Yeh but the idea of emptying your cup every 3 hours or so, is WEEEEEEEIRD. ahhh i wanna try it but at 17 pounds, i might just stick to my good old tampax! lol

It only needs to be emptied once or twice a day, and many people report much less painful periods when they use it
Plus - say you use 1 pack of regular Tampax on 1 period, at about £2.50. That's £30 every year, and £180 in 6 years.
In total, a saving of £162.50 with the Mooncup!
It's great for the environment, doesn't dry you out and saves so much money. And you don't need to bother buying tampons/pads over and over again, provided you don't lose the cup.

For me, when I first put it in it seems really low down but it sort of settles itself into the correct position after a while. If that makes sense. I'm sure you've worked that out by now since this was posted a couple of days ago
I love the reactions of people when they first hear about mooncups. But after getting used to it, I don't understand why they're not a lot more widely used. (Apart from the obvious fact that pad and tampon companies are making quite a lot of money with disposable products).
Edit: also, looking at the website, it says they hold 30ml of fluid. Whaat? It's more like 15ml. Weird.

Thanks for replying anyway - I sorta got it in and couldn't feel it (followed by a dance around my bedroom!), but I'm keeping all advice, as it'll stop me panicking when my period comes.
I usually empty it 3 times a day on the first 2 days and then twice a day after that. Could get away with once a day in the last couple of days, though.
Also to answer your original question, if you want to know if the seal has formed... pull on it a bit, and if it's 'suctioned' in, there's a seal

When you pull on it, because it's formed a seal, the air can't get past. So it's kind of suctioned in place. I'm really bad at explaining this ahhhh. Think of a plunger, kind of, but not. The little holes round the edge are to help release the suction when you take it out, to let the air get through.
