I've just had sex with my girlfriend for the first time after she's had the coil fitted and it's fair to say I could feel them. They were actually quite uncomfortable, it feels like the end of your penis is being scratched when you catch them. Anyone's girlfriend have the coil fitted? Can you feel the strings during sex?

You shouldn't be able to feel them. It's something that very few people notice. My last boyfriend didn't even know about the strings and he never mentioned them. Sounds like her strings might be a little long. Or it could be that the coil hasn't been fitted properly and you're catching the device itself, which could be cause for concern. Do you realise how fine those strings actually are? Not even something you'd notice brushing against you.

the strings may still be hard, my gp let me touch the bit she cut off when i had mine inserted, they felt like horse hairs but she said they get softer over time, but it might take a month or so for them to really soften up

yea, and as they get softer they'll just kind of curl up around the cervix instead of hanging down the way they probably are right now

you don't have to worry about pulling the coil out - unless you actually yank at the strings though, cervix muscles are very strong and it's a tiny space to pull the thing out through
