What would you like adding to the medicine section of the wiki?

This is what's currently there

Some ideas I've had:
- IB and Scottish higher requirements for each medical school - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki...Require ments, http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki...ttish_Students
- GEP requirements (in a similar table style to other things already in the wiki)
- Foundation courses
- Access courses
- A page on PBL - what it involves, advantages, disadvantages, some current medics opinions on it (Alex is taking care of this with help from Hygeia and terpineol)
- Suggestions on how to choose which medical schools to apply to - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki...ls_to_apply_to
- some FAQs and information about individual medical schools (from current medics perspectives)
- UKCAT page - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/UKCAT

EDIT: ideas you've all come up with:
- Tidy up PS section (info on applicants grades, offers etc)
- Vaccinations needed and any fees that might be required - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki...Medical_School
- Gap years: organisations (FFCrusader's doing this one) - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Medicine_Gap_Years
- Example timetables
- Add to myth busting: money and prospects, student loans and GEP
- "Being a medic at X" "A day in the life of a medic at X" Current students comments etc
- Successful sample applications to each medical school
- Current students experiences of the different teaching styles
- Current students views on intercalating – what they have a chance to do, the impact of the extra year etc
- Continue work on 'work experience' page – emphasis on volunteering to 'have fun' rather because you think it will look good, importance of hospital/GP experience

Any ideas? Anyone willing to help adding things?

I can add some of my own comments to that as well (since I've had both excellent and horrendous experiences with it )

How about...vaccinations you may need? I have come across people who didn't know about getting the Hep B jab and how long it takes

Also possible gap year ideas - maybe a list of organisations people have gone with to do something

I know very little about gap years, so do you think you could have a go at that? (if you don't want to put it in the wiki yourself, you can post what you come up with in here and I'll add it)

I don't mind chipping on on the subject of PBL.

A myth busting spot highlighting the money is crap and the prospects are worse.

A few example timetables from various medical schools for each year would be cool.

Something highlighting the uncertainty over the future limit of tuition fees, and pointing out you don't get the student loan for a second degree. This should be of significant note to the "I'll just go for GEP" lot.

I think this would be most useful in my opinion as all the rest can be found out from uni websites/ prospectus, whilst opinions on the course etc are harder to find!

Along these lines, maybe a little guide to "being a medic at X", just cause I've had quite a lot of PMs this cycle asking me about life as a medic here

All the personal statements are currently being reviewed (it'll take a long time though) so will have comments on what's good/not so good about each so whether they were successful or not should be less of an issue

Good plan though I agree looks like it will take ages.
Also when can you become a helper? I would like to do it. I know you need to be at uni so is it when you start your course?

For definite when you start your course. Possibly, following results day but don't hold me to that as I don't know for certain.
