Default A* at A level Maths

Hello,

I am doing Maths A level and I am in the first year however I am taking C3 this year along with other AS modules - would I still be able to get an A* if I get 90% from C3 and C4 or do I have to take C3 and C4 only after September 2009 to be able to get an A*?

The reason why I am taking C3 this year is because I did C1 last year after my GCSEs, so this year I am doing C2, C3 and S1 - is it still possible to get an A*?

You can only get A* from the June 2010 certification blahdy, so no, you can't... don't let it bother you, though, unis know that there's lots of people who will have As that got them before A*s were implemented.

the thing is that although I am doing C3 this year, I will finish the course in 2010 therefore I will get my final grades in summer 2010 - is it possible in this case?

Its not possible as you did some of your exams under the old specifications. I am doing the new specification FM but I cannot get an A* as I did old M2, S", M£.

actually, I did C1 under old specification last year - but I am going to retake C1 under the new specification probably, will that help? Actually let me say this - all the exams for the maths A level I am going to do this year and next year - is it possible in this case?

Although I've done c1 last year, I am doing it again so all the exams that I am doing are after September 2009 except that one of the A2 exams I will take in the first year along with all the AS exams, is it possible in this case?

You should be able to, because the specification hasn't changed.

Did I get it right - no matter which year I do the AS and A2 units, as soon as it's after September 2008 - it will be possible to get an A* - is that right?

I know a little about the specification - when you said the specification didn't change, actually it means that the content of the module didn't change, for example when you said you did old M1 - it might mean that you did the M1 of the new specification which is the same as the old one. Every few years the specification gets updated and some of the modules might not be changed so that's what in my opinion means old and new specification - I believe that if you do any exam after september 2008 then even if the content of the module stayed the same, you automatically get the 2008 specification certificate.. When did you do the old modules, was it before September 2008?
