Question Drama 09

So I know there are only something like 38 places to study drama at UEA and I was literally the last person to be auditioned (It. Was. Terrifying.).
Just curious about who else got a place?
I'm doing Drama and English Literature.

Holly.

I know! The man who auditioned me was lovely but he made me do my monologue three times in a different way each time! I was just like, I am NOT prepared for this lol!
Yeah it's something like 500 applicants, 140 auditions and about 38 places. Makes you feel good when you think of it like that!

Hey Lauren! woo more drama dudes! i had to do mine about three times aswell i was thinking omg did i really do it that bad ... In the tour i had before my audition one of the girls was saying the reason we start early is because drama need more time to get to know each other because we have to work so much as a group and trust each other...so i think thats why...where abouts you from lauren..do u know norwich well?

hey all,
ive been accepted into UEA for drama, but im also thinking of royal holloway, and the choice is KILLING ME.

Pros and Cons UEA:
* In norwich
* Small class size
* 2nd year internship with good theatre companies
* Amazing sports facilities

- Drama facilities aren't that good and there's no dance or singing club (from what i saw).
- Relatively unknown uni.
- Far away from london.

Pros and Cons Royal Holloway:
* Big name, part of the University of London.
* Amazing Drama (and general) facilities.

- In the middle of nowhere, nightlife seems a bit dead.
- Massive class sizes (60!) might mean less familiarity / trust / ensemble feeling.

What does anyone else think?

Hey Orry
i applied to royal holloway aswel but decided that UEA was better for me.
Personally i felt that royal holloway didnt have as good a relationship with thier students as UEA does and like you said this may be due to the large class size and everything felt so separated from everything else taking ages to get from one bit to another and there wasnt really a central communal point that you could all sit together and meet up.
UEA has quite a few dance classes like ballet and hip hop and the sports facilities are used by the genral public as well as the uni so you might find that there may be dance schools which you can join that use the facilities even if thier not run by UEA itself. im not sure about singing though sorry.
Royal holloway is pretty deserted and there is nothing in the town and about one pub but it depends what you are looking for, i like how everything is on campus but norwich city centre isnt that far away for a night out or shopping.
I know i am quite bias but it really depends on what you are looking for, royal holloway does have great facilities and a massive department so if you are looking for a uni with more focus on drama then that maybe for you. i would just recommend to look around both again and see which offers what you are looking for.
good luck xxx

My sister is in a similar situation, being torn between UEA (English and Drama) and Durham (English). I promised that I'd see if anyone on TSR knew anything, but I have no idea what you could say that would make it easier... observations welcome however.
