Gram Positive and Gram Negative

Im testing mouthwashes for my coursework. Bad breath is caused by gram negative and tooth decay gram positive.

Is it correct to assume that the properties of a different gram positive bacteria will give me results which would be similar to the actual gram positive bacteria which causes tooth decay?

The reason I ask this is because we can use both a gram positive and a gram negative in our practical coursework. So im wondering if they could be used to compare to the actual bacteria which cause bad breath and tooth decay so that I can say if one mouthwash is good at fighting bad breath whilst the other is good for preventing tooth decay rather than just saying this mouthwash kills more bacteria if you get what I mean.

Depends how they're killing them.

I was afraid someone would say that.
I know the ingredients but I dont know what the active ones are or how they work. This is A-level should I be knowing this? or is this a case og google.com for a few hours?
