Unhappy Cultural Studies at Leeds?

I applied to do English at Leeds, and they declined me, but because I'm predicted 4 As in mostly arts and humanities subjects (English Lang & Lit, Medieval History, Theatre Studies and French) they've offered me a place doing cultural studies instead. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know whether or not to take it.

Does anyone do cultural studies at Leeds who could tell me a bit about the course?

Thanks. xxx

If you're predicted 4 As and you're not keen on the idea of cultural studies, why not reapply?

I'm doing history of art and I believe the course intermingles with cultural studies a bit, but I might be wrong (sorry if I am). I really enjoy it, the school of fine art, history of art and cultural studies is good, the lecturers seem knowledgable and interested in what they teach. First year is a bit all over the place but, looking back on what they've covered, I have learnt a lot about the history of art. Of course everything touches on race or gender and the portayal of these in both art and the writing of art history, which I find interested but others don't so much.

We did a few lectures on the history of the country house which I believe is quite cultural studies orientated. I learnt a fair bit about the reflection of classical architecture and its prescribed 'rules' that architects throughout the renaissance and baroque periods followed, but I'm not massivly keen on architecture personally.

However, as you didn't apply to cultural studies and don't seem massivly interested in it, perhaps reapplying or phoning Leeds and explaining your situation would be a better plan.

Thanks for the advice both of you. In the end I e-mailed Leeds back to say no thanks to cultural studies and they said I could get back in touch with them in August if I was still keen on going there to do English.
