Edinburgh, Aberdeen or St. Andrews???

I live in Aberdeen, the University of Aberdeen is alright (judging from open days, etc), the city is a bit dull however; we've got a beach and a few shops and that's about it really. Nothing really interesting unless you like rain. Maybe I'm bias because I've been here too long.


I studied at Aberdeen and thought it was very good; nice historic campus and well resourced. I had an unconditional for Edinburgh but (Edinburgh being my home town) another four years there just didn't appeal. Aberdeen has enough to keep you interested for a few years, but it is always good to get away from home for those golden years of higher education.

With regard to prestige, unless it is Oxford or Cambridge I don't think it matters. I know someone with a physics degree from edinburgh who is working on an ice-rink in australia.
