Hello Lufbrian's!
I have a small query about the offer I have from Loughborough that perhaps some current students could answer.
I should provide some background info which will help with answering:
AS Grades
AAAB
A2 Predictions
AAA
I applied for
Communication and Media Studies via UCAS and got an
ABB offer - the typical Loughborough offer from what I gather.
I was checking out some info today on their website, filling in details of our choices to pass on to the careers dept, and I noticed on the course webpage it said the following:
Typical Offer
A Level Qualifications
ABB from either three A Levels or AB at A Level, plus BB in two different subjects at AS Level (these can include General Studies at either A or AS Level).
From my understanding, the website is stating that the course is accessible by obtaining an
AB at A Level this summer, but I must also have at least
2 B grades at AS Level in order to get in using these grades.
It is however worth reiterating that MY OFFER which was sent to my in the post and via UCAS stipulated I required grades
ABB and did not offer alternatives for me to achieve.
Can someone either verify or dispute this please?
The reason I am asking is because the January modules did not go so well (however I am resitting them). When I was at my departmental open day after recieving the offer they said the grades were "interchangeable", ie, you could get AAC and it would be the equivalent of their offer, however grades such as AAD would be grounds for them thinking about accepting you, but possibly declining you. Do they go back and look at your AS Levels if this ends up to be the case seeing as they are not operating on the UCAS points system.
Sorry for the essay and the complex explanation, but the fear is starting to really get to me that my offer might not be fulfilled.
It would be fantastic if someone could shed light on this issue.
