It's probably some licensing restriction, which is a shame.

This is what annoys me, these sort of ideas are out there, and the record labels are throttling them. Instead of spending so much money combating piracy, they should be spending the time and money getting these things up and running. If they had done this from the start, then there would be far less pirated websites and tools out there, and people would be in the habit of getting their music from legal sources.

This is brilliant Thanks for this!
    I love it!
I used last.fm but didn't like how you could only choose specific songs to play through the website itself.
Top marks for this! Every band I like brings back results for all their songs.

Spotify - Has anyone heard of this?
I've found this website - http://www.spotify.com/en/ It claims to be a legal music source but it asks for an invite. Firstly - does anyone have one?! and also... who knows what this is about? A viable alternative to iTunes?

I'm loving it. There's lots of stuff that it doesn't have (I suppose we're spoilt by last.fm) but I've found a few tracks on Spotify that last.fm won't let you stream.

The sound quality's not amazing but I'll use it to sample albums that I'll go and buy anyway.

Spotify is so awesome, I'm surprised at the number of remix's and Bsides available. iTunes won't be getting much attention from me for the time being.
