Re: Spotify: free, legal music. That's because artists/record companies had issues with their music being up there. Rubbish.(Original post by Cooljack)
Spotify is not going to last long, lots of music that was available under a month ago has been taken off it already
Hopefully it'll come back soon enough. I think Spotify has got legs, I much prefer it to Last.fm for listening to music with. -
Re: Spotify: free, legal music.Well tbf, lastfm is a different service with a very different function.(Original post by Stray_talk)

Re: Spotify: free, legal music.yeah, this has happened to numerous other progams/streaming sites that have offered exactly the same, (spotify was the best so far) I listened to alot of music I would never have bothered to otherwise, mostly artists that had been recommended to me but I would never otherwise have really thought to look up if a catalog of their songs hadn't been five seconds away.
I don't think it really compares to last.fm as they're roles are not really the same. Last.fm is more for charting music with *some* options for sampling low quality tracks, but then you can only get 30 second clips on most and the full ones only let you listen to them a hand ful of times a week, which is exactly what spotify would be like if they followed the laws down to detail (which would suck horribly). One of the good things that Spotify did offer though was the option to run it with last.fm so you could scrobble everything you listened too as you would in iTunes.(Original post by Stray_talk)

I actually said when I first got spotify that it would only last a few weeks before being crippled by the record lables. I don't think they're actually losing much if any profits through a service like spotify, as you can't listen to it anywhere other than at your computer, so chances are if you find something you really like your going to buy/download the music from somewhere, I use emusic so if anything they've gained money from me, so that you can listen to it on an mp3 player or put it on a CD. -
Re: Spotify: free, legal music.
This is what annoys me with record labels. Can't they see that the majority of users want music immediately these days? Users are not bothered whether or not it's legal, as long as it is convenient. If the record labels were to embrace these problems, then I reckon their piracy problem would be cut in half overnight.

Well tbf, lastfm is a different service with a very different function. This is true, I wasn't comparing them as such - I'm a sub on last and I think that gives you the option to listen to songs more than 3 times - may be wrong though.(Original post by Cooljack)

I think Spotify still offers scrobbling via last - which is handy

Re: Spotify: free, legal music. It does make you wonder what exactly they're thinking - they need to get more "in touch" with music users.(Original post by SillyFencer)

Re: Spotify: free, legal music.yeah im a subscriber aswell, though only really so I can see who goes on my profile and create a really awkward situation in real life and say "so, been looking at my charts?" to people I know who aren't subscribers(Original post by Stray_talk)

though funnily enough of the people i've said this to none have ever been on my profile again -
Spotify?
Anyone use it? Like it or not?
For those who don't know, Spotify is basically a music streaming program you download and it gives you access to a vast amount of songs -all full and streamable straight away for free. It also interacts with Last.fm. It has some rare stuff and is very easy to use.
As its free, it's income does come from adverts but these aren't pop ups thank god and there isn't that many!!! -
Re: Spotify?Yep. It's pretty good, it's expanded the music I listen to.(Original post by Kink)
