tell me about York please!

Hi,

I've recently received an offer from York to study Philosophy.
Up until now i didn't really think i would get an offer and even if i did, i always thought i wouldn't even consider coming because I was so in love with Exeter.
Then York offered me for Philosophy and now i'm tempted because the course is so good!

So, i've never visited but i will do on the Open Day (24th April).

Other than that, could people please please tell me the pros and cons of York as a university? Specifically the accommodation, general atmosphere and music stuff (orchestras etc).

To me, although it has a great reputation, it just seems like a collection of big square grey buildings?

I did'nt go to Uni there but I did live there for a while and it is so very pretty, the Uni building does not do it justice as it is quite ugly but the city itself is just gorgeous.
