Default Please post your Annual budget for studying in central London

Im in the process of making a budget for my studies in the US this fall. It will be incredibly expensive, hence I would like to ask if you could post some examples of annual budgets for studying in central London, the most expensive place in the UK I can think of. Also post tips of how to cut costs/save money that applies when living in a big city. It will help me tremendously for my budgetary purposes. Thanks in advance

I'm confused, are you studying in the US or in London? If you're studying in the US, why are you asking about London?

US

coz
1. Studying in the US will cost a lot of money, far more than in any UK city
2. since this is a uk forum there wont be many that will have studied in the US
3. london is the most expensive place in the UK to study, expensies will be quite similar to the place I will go in the US and there are lots of people on TSR studying in london
4. In order to get a reasonale yield, I ask about London

Hmmm well its hard to calculate an annual budget as I go home for most of the holidays...so I'll do a monthly one.

Rent - £480 (this includes bills)
Food and alcohol - £50-70
Travel Around London - £80 (most of this goes on visiting my boyfriend though who lives outside of central London so this could be less)
Going Out - £100-140
Gym Membership -£26

Thats the basic stuff, obviously I have a clothes shopping budget but that is dependant on where you shop!

Why do you assume that? Yes, of course tuition is more expensive, but the cost of living in London is far higher than anywhere in the US (except possibly Manhattan).

Besides, student life is America is very, very different from London. For one thing, most undergraduates buy something called a "meal plan" at the beginning of the year, which includes a certain amount of meals for the whole year. Most students in London buy their own food to cook themselves, so you couldn't compare food costs in any meaningful way.

Almost all your incidental expenses (clothes/drinks/transport) will of course be less than they would be in London.

I see you're going to MIT... have you looked at this? http://web.mit.edu/sfs/afford/undergraduate_costs.html
