Default Cambridge Applicants 2009 (For Entry in 2010) Thread

Name says it all I think.

I you have applied to Cambridge this year (for entry in 2010 or for deferred entry 2011), then feel free to discuss courses, colleges, anything really. And if current students/offer holders want to give advice then feel free - your advice could be invaluable. Good Luck to all applying!

If you want to be added to the list, then PLEASE PM ME and I'll add you as soon as I get the chance! It's taking me too long to go through all the posts to find all the details, so PM is the way forward I think! Would be really helpful if you could put it in the order of the post avove

If something needs changing/you're on the list and have now chosen a college then PM me! If you change your mind on course then PM me as well! And if you're not going to apply for whatever reason, then let me know so I can take you off the list.

I wish you all the best of luck!

And a special good luck to those that require entrance exams (TSA, STEP, LNAT, college maths exam, etc)

Hello there, I'm NB.

I might be applying to Cambridge, I might be applying to Oxford, or I might not be applying to either and just go to university this year.

If I apply to Cambridge I think my first choice college would be Gonville & Caius (because of the cool name). It'd be for History V100.

Welcome!

I might start adding everyone on to a subject list/college list . . . I'll see how many people we get.

If they're unsure it's fine - we could change their mind

Well I'm not a definite yet. You probably won't find out whether or I am or not until about October.

I'm considering Cambridge (originally Oxford but then I somehow developed this love for Cam! xD), and I intend to study medicine. =D

Which colleges have you guys already shortlisted? =D Emma seems to be in most people's list(xD). As for me, I am not sure at the moment yet, I really like the look of a dozen of them. =S

I was just thinking, although I know we all have exams. You probably should start brainstorming/writing your personal statement now, so that you have absolutely ages to chop and change if you need to. You'd be able to add things you do over the summer too.

Nice idea. =) I don't see why not. ^__^

As for me, I'm going to leave mine until after the exams, partly because I still have the bulk of my medicine work experience to come. xD

Lol. I've already drafted mine. Although it wasn't really with the intention of using it for UCAS. I just wanted to see if I could write a better one now than I did last year (it really is, a year makes a huge differemce). I just suggested it, because it could be good to get it out of the way I think. That said, I still don't know if I'll be UCASing again. I'm just joining this thread to discuss a potential path.

Hi!

2010 Geography hopeful here! Downing is the college at the top of my list at the moment. I was considering NatSci. for Geology, but we will see what happens when the time comes!

My school has already suggested that we start thinking about this. I think a first draft needs to be done sometime in the next term.

Loads of people at our school hadn't even written their PSs by December (), although we only had about 4 Oxbridge applicants. They didn't really start exhorting us to write them until after the summer holidays.

I'm not an Oxbridge applicant but perhaps you might want to focus on your exams and getting the grades before you get too ahead of yourselves?

Good luck though. I guess it's fun to be prepared.

This thread could be used as inspiration, or a reminder that the grades need to be achieved.

"You must do well or you won't be allowed to stay on this thread past August"

Plus, I guess I'm slightly allowed to get ahead of myself. I don't really need particularly high scores to get As overall (I'm doing A2s).
