How bra sizes work


It’s important to understand that the band size and the cup size work together. One of the most common misconceptions is that a D cup is always bigger than a C or B cup. In fact, a bra’s cup size is dependent on its band size – so a 32D holds the same volume as a 34C but is actually smaller than a 38B.

What does this mean in practice? Well, if, for example, you are currently wearing a 36DD and you want to go down a band size but keep the same cup, you will need a 34E, not a 34DD, to accommodate your breasts.

Yeah, its true that a 34A is pretty much equivalent to a 32B. But when you say if 'my band size got smaller', if you mean that you'd lost weight, then its probably worth remeasuring your bra size altogether because your cup size may have changed too.

And no, you're supposed to buy bras that fit best on the loosest hook setting. The elastic in bras can start to stretch over time, so that way, over time you can start moving the hook to the tighter settings and the bra will still fit you.

The cup of a 34A is the same size as the cup of a 32B. But as someone already said, if you've lost weight you might not be the same cup size anyway.

well, I lost weight and my back size has gone smaller, but I measured my breast size and (luckily!) they have not changed

So, I guess I'll try one on.

What kind of push-up bra do you reccommend for the tiniest of the tiny breasts? (I'm not talking for everyday use, but just for that special occasion)

What brand and what style of cup should I be looking at? Are there any that give dramatic results? I've never been able to achieve cleavage, so would really like to

I bought a cheap sports bra the other day and it was rubbish, I've never really bothered before because I've just ran on empty back roads and held my arms against my chest....but I'm having to change my route and realise I look like an idiot doing this. It also makes me run in a strange way so I twist back and forth at my waist and give me stomach a harder workout than my legs (if that makes sense).
I need a really decent sports bra that leaves my breasts with minimum movement when jogging, have any of you tried particular bras that have worked really well, especially for bigger bust?

M&S have some really good ones. I think you can get them for about £15 but they're well worth it, especially as they specialise in larger sizes.

I won't wear anything other than Shock Absorber - their sports bras always come out on top when they do customer satisfaction surveys n things. Also on This Morning recently too.

Would have to agree, I use the maximum support ones from M&S and have never had a problem. Well worth the €30 (lol paddy tax).
