Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)Definitely doesn't work out for me...I'm a comfortable 30F in most brands I've tried (in the ones that 30F doesn't fit, no size seems to fit properly). The calculator gives me 28DD or 30D! Not a chance in hell I'd fit in a 30D lol. And I'm just about a 28 band in Freya I think, but a FF cup was a bit small so DD would be painful.(Original post by rainbow.panda)
Try measuring yourself. You'd be surprised how small D cups actually are. I was fitted as a 30A and I'm actually a 26E.
You could try this calculator, it's the most accurate one I've come across: http://www.sophisticatedpair.com/bracalculator.htm
At the end of the day, measurements alone can't give you a definite bra size IMO. Different brands fit differently, people hold fat in different areas and have different shapes, measurements can be quite different if you're on your period, holding your breath in, etc etc.
For swimwear? I got a nice bikini in Debenhams which isn't underwired and ties at the back (I can't stand those clips, I don't trust them at all so I always look for tie backs) which came in lots of sizes (I got a 30F, but because it was tied at the back and at the neck, various surrounding sizes would have probably be fine too). Brastop have a lot of sales, and Figleaves. Also, if you can try on some at Debenhams/Bravissimo/etc you can get a lot of good deals on eBay - I got a Freya one-piece swimming costume with tags on for about £12. Didn't try it on before though, just bought it on a whim and figured I could resell if it didn't fit. Ooh and my other swimming costume is from Matalan and fits surprisingly well! Not underwired but does have cup support which is actually pretty supportive and comfortable enough for me to do 'proper' swimming in for an hour.(Original post by PrinceSarah)
Is there anywhere cheaper than Bravissimo?Last edited by Kate.; 15-05-2012 at 22:16. -
Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)
It would appear the big lingerie companies need proof that there's a market for 30 bands and under:

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)
Hellooo, I have a question:
I am a 30H (I'm 18, 9st so average there) which is massive and they are awful - not very firm, rather saggy and just huge. They give me backaches and men seem to assume I'm a slut and I get awful comments. Girls are even worse at times; sometimes get really mean comments from girls.
I know most people want larger boobs but I have always had huge breasts and I absolutely despise them. My GP's told me there's nothing natural I can do to reduce them.
Should I get a boob reduction? IS there anything natural I can do? please help

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)
Hi guys
was wondering if you could help regarding sizing. I currently wear a 32D but I lost some weight and I think I'm a C now. I went shopping and the Cs seemed to fit fine. However, I went on some websites where there are size calculators, or tell you the proper way to measure, and some of them came out vastly different. I know some are completely inaccurate but I found a site where lots of people seemed to think it was good where I came out as a 28 back size! The others then said I was a 30 back size. But I once tried on a smaller back size and I really couldn't get it on :/ should I go and try a smaller size again or stay with what I've got at the moment (it seems to be comfortable anyway). Also the site that said I was a 28 said I'd be a DD but some of the sites said I was a 30A! :L if someone could help I would be very grateful!

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)Other than generally losing weight (depending on your height you probably don't have much you could healthily lose though) you can't really reduce the size...perhaps doing some exercises/weight lifting that strengthens the chest muscles might help with the back ache. If you really think a reduction would make you happier and more comfortable then talk to your GP about it and see if you can get a referral started. As it's actually causing you pain I think you may get it on the NHS but I'm not sure. Would you be prepared to pay for it if you had to go private?(Original post by Anonymous_m83)

What are you measurements? A lot of calculators are way off. Are you wearing the 32 bands on the tightest or the loosest hook? If a 30 feels too tight then don't force yourself into wearing it, but keep in mind that it is possible you've been wearing the wrong size for a while (like many other women) and you've just got used to bras feeling a bit looser than they're meant to! The first time I started wearing a 30 it felt a little tight but now I can't believe how long I was wearing my 32s with so much less support, haha.(Original post by Tilly87)

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)I'm a 26 back and 31 chest. I do wear the 32s on the tightest but they don't seem to feel at all loose or anything. Next time I go shopping I will try a 30 again and see how it is.(Original post by Kate.)

where do you buy yours btw? I generally go Marks/Debenhams but I couldn't find any skin coloured ones in the style I wanted.

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)Well, around my ribcage I'm 27-28" (seems to be different every time I measure!) and about 33" at the widest point around my boobs, and 32s are definitely too big for me. I usually wear the Debenhams 'Gorgeous' balcony bras in a 30F, on the loosest fitting (when you're buying a bra you should usually get one that is comfortable and supportive on the loosest fitting, so you can tighten it if/when the bra stretches). In M&S I'm kind of in-between a 30E and 30F but still definitely a 30. Recently tried on a Freya and a Fantasie bra (think those were the brands anyway) which just about fit in a 28, but they didn't have cup sizes big enough. So for you, I'd definitely give some 30s and 28s a try! I know you said they felt tight before but the cup sizes may have been too small which would've made it feel much tighter.(Original post by Tilly87)

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)Quite a few for £15-£20 on Brastop, and they sometimes have sales/discount vouchers too.(Original post by Staceycake)
I'm a 28GG and was wondering if anybody knows anywhere I can get cheaper bras, other than having to spend £30 on just one? It's stupid and I can't afford to be spending so much on them. -

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)
I recently got measured in the shop Leia and I was told I'm a 28FF - yikes! I am a size 8 and just so big chested it's a bit out of proportion. Buying bras is a total nightmare. I was advised to buy Freya (which you can get from Leia lingerie, House of Fraser, Debenhams etc)
The problem is they don't stock many 28s or 30s and the stock sells out fast. It's so annoying.
Thanks for the bravissimo suggestion, I've yet to try their lingerie...

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)It's quite rare that you get breasts that are firm, afaik. It's natural for breasts to sag and that isn't a bad thing. I'm sorry that you get those sort of reactions from men and women but if it's any consolation, those aren't the type of people you should concern yourself with anyway. It's quite possible that some of those girls will be jealous and guys are just being guys, making throw-away comments that they don't realise will hurt.(Original post by Anonymous_m83)

If you don't already go to the gym you should consider doing so specifically just tp work on the bust area. You can strengthen your back muscles and maybe losing weight will help to reduce cup sizes naturally.
Having surgery is an option, but it's not one that should be advised hastily. There's always a chance that you can suffer side-effects, etc and it's costly. If you feel that you have no other way of getting round this, then have a talk with your GP. However, the problem sounds to me as if it's more mental than physical, if you'll allow me to make a guess. It seems that you are ashamed of your breasts because of how you think others perceive you (as well as the added pain)? How do you dress normally, day to day?

Thanks for your reply
. Day to day I usually wear jeans and a tshirt; I know that v-neck tops can make your boobs look smaller but when I wear strappy tops I just feel like there's too much on show/attracting attention.

Support for bigger bust with backless dress?
i've been lent a gorgeous dress for this thing in 1 week so i don't have long to sort this out (stupidly left to last minute) but if i can't i will have to buy a new dress which i don't really want to do because i have a lot OR i will have to wear one i already have but none of them really fit where i am going.
problem - dress is backless, or at least partially backless... to the extent you can see my bra strap anyway. however i am 32e/30f so i don't think those cup bra this

will support me?
any help/suggestions? i could wear a bra with a seethrough band but i think they look a bit trampy... no offence...
