Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)You must be teeny! You should probably be wearing a 26" but they're very difficult to find, so perhaps you'll have to make do with 28" - once you have a better idea of your size you could order a couple of 26s online, lots of sites do free returns now. Most calculators use the rubbish +4 method. My underbust is 28" and I wear a 28-30 band depending on style, so you would definitely be smaller than a 30 band. To put it into perspective, I wear a 30F or 28FF and putting my measurements into this calculator (one of the first when I searched) gives me a 32B rofl. I've actually just sent them a feedback message to say how ridiculously inaccurate their calculator is, I couldn't resist.(Original post by rayla)
Can someone give me an idea of what kind of size i should be trying?
My underbust is 25" and bust is 31". I've tried using the charts but i'm sure a 30A is way too small which is the size i keep getting.
Thank you!
Have a look at this Bravissimo perfect fit guide then head over to somewhere like Bravissimo if you have a store locally. If not, give Debenhams a try - they have quite a lot of 28 band styles in my store, and they've measure me fairly accurately in the past but it depends on your store, some aren't as good. Read the guide though and hopefully you won't need a fitter. Get all sorts of 28 bands + different cup sizes - at a guess I'd say D-F but seriously, just try on as many as possible and take note of how they all fit. Once you figure out what cup size fits OK on a 28 band, if you want to order some 26s online then usually it's up a cup size each time you go down a band size (so if 28DD fits OK, try a 26E).Last edited by Kate.; 06-07-2012 at 17:43. -
Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)
I really really want to go get fitted in Bravissimo because it does sound like their staff are genuinely good at it, my measurements are about 29" and 36", but I'm worried that I won't be a D+ cup - which is what Bravissimo stocks.. will they be annoyed if I go there and I'm not a D?

Re: Boobs, Lingerie & Bra Questions Thread (Continued)My measurements are around 28" and 33/34" - I'm a F/FF so you'll be over a D! If you're not already wearing a DD+ cup you're probably in a very wrong size. Anyway, I'm sure they wouldn't be annoyed(Original post by rawragee)

Need help with calculating my bra size please
Do any of you recommend a bra size calculator that is accurate? I've used one that said I was a DD, one where I was a B and one where I was an AA (which just isn't possible lol, it said to add 5" to the underbust measurement which gave me a 0" difference).
My underbust measurement is 31" and the fullest part is 36".
Thanks. -

Re: Need help with calculating my bra size pleaseThis answer has turned me on. Thank you(Original post by cfizzle)
I think the best way to get a good size is to a) either go and try some on in different sizes and see what feels best. Remember to makes sure you can fit a fist and NO MORE in the back, and you shouldn't have 'four boobs', ie, the baps shouldn't be spilling out
The bra shouldn't ride up your back. If it does, it isn't supporting you! Also you should preferably be able to fit a finger down the middle of the wires, but I don't know how reliable that part is
if a) is too much effort then b), getting measured in La Senza, Marks and Spencer, etc, is the best. My bras from La Senza for example, are a 32 DD. Yet in, say, New Look, the 32 DD is faaaar too small. So get measured where you shop!
Good luck! -
Re: Need help with calculating my bra size please
I have used this one before and found it pretty accurate for me anyway! It let's you put in the measurement above your bust which makes the result more realistic I think: http://www.85b.org/bra_calc.php
hmm okay, I put in your stats and it says 36aa- I don't think you'd be that big a band. What about 34A or 32B?. What do you wear atm? -

Re: Need help with calculating my bra size please
As has been mentioned - getting properly fitted is the best thing to do. Although it can be a bit pricer John Lewis are worth going to if you've got one near by. I believe there's something on the website with a guide on measuring/working out your size.
Not only do the sizes of bras vary, but so do they ways you get measures. When I last went to John Lewis (a few months ago) a measuring tape, but when I last went to M&S (maybe a year or so) they didn't really do any measuring - mostly by sight/guessing etc. They don't seem to do the whole +4/5 thing these days. It's also worth bearing in mind that it's not just inches, but also shape etc that can determine the best size. I don't have particularly large breasts, but due to their shape have to go for slightly bigger cups so the wires sit properly etc. -

Re: Need help with calculating my bra size pleaseAt the moment I'm a 32B which is the right band size but the cups are way too small, I've had like a growth spurt or something recently so there's no way I'm still a B let alone an A lol.(Original post by LavenderBlueSky88)

Re: Need help with calculating my bra size please
Best thing really is to go get measured. My size varies from store to store. Marks and Spencers, John Lewis, Debenhams, Ann Summers and La Senza are the ones I would recommend. Remember though lingerie stores make out your size to be bigger than it is.

Re: Need help with calculating my bra size please
It's a pain, I'm different sizes in different places. I urge you to go get measured, it can be a total revelation, though I've heard some retailers are told to give you an obscure size you can only buy there. But my friend and I went into M&S, me thinking I was 34DD and her thinking she was 34A, and they measured us as 30F and 28D respectively, say whaaa! To be honest I'll still sometimes get my old size just because bigger cup bras often have those horrid thick straps.
But yeah you just have to try on a bunch of sizes whenever you buy a bra, and you'll often need a different size depending on the type of bra eg. strapless which needs to be tighter to hold you in, balconette/plunge/pushup which can easily give four boob etc. Make sure the band's nice and tight and sits at the same point all the way round your chest/back, rather than riding up.
The bra shouldn't ride up your back. If it does, it isn't supporting you! Also you should preferably be able to fit a finger down the middle of the wires, but I don't know how reliable that part is
