though it's worth mentioning that the reason he was forced to withdraw was a technicality in that he hadn't correctly sought permission of his college etc, rather than because he held dubious views about how cusu should be run and ran on quotes from the lion king...

:lolwut: How come my posts have been removed? They're not offensively unrelated to the topic of LGBT in cambridge...In fact it was one of my main impressions of camb & lgbt, so I don't see how it can do it any harm to have a proper explanation (y'know, by those people whose posts have also been removed...)

EDIT: especially when posts such as
MeanMachine
what does LGBT mean?
and
MeanMachine
transvestites - i thought they only existed on Big brother or in films :o:
were left undeleted, which makes it make even less sense.

A mod probably decided it was spam because it didn't directly answer/relate to the OP.

Oh, I was just asking and talking about the whole Guolong (sp?, y'know - the lion king, "I want to help lgbt people stop being queers" bloke) thing. It doesn't matter that much, I suppose, I was feeling a little militantly aware of censorship after the whole Amazon fiasco. I might still ask in "Ask a Mod" - it still seems a little wierd since it was essentially on topic. I still can't quite believe that it didn't make more of a splash, just because in Oxford everything seems to get through the nation press (usually the guardian, which, as you probably know, has a whole section of its website dedicated to oxbridge-bashing).

The Guolong bloke is probably just jealous of other people who enjoy themselves; do you honestly think that a 21 year old Bible-spouting Lion King obsessive has ever been laid or will ever be laid?

Exactly.

 It made a giant splash, ok! And if it didn't make national headlines, that's probably because they reached saturation point after sending word of Cambridge's plagiarism counts around the world three times over in Michaelmas

*had a giant explanatory post removed by mods*

I'm not enjoying the course; it's been very, very boring so far and quite a lot of people I've spoken to are thinking this. I'm hoping it will improve in years to come  . Compared to A level, I absolutely hate it. I'd much rather be doing zoology but Cambridge don't offer that :p: ...

not sure if you're serious but cambridge do have zoology. As a specialism in bioNatsci

My friend doing that course said it's an option in third year, I'm only a fresher.
I've lived in cambridge all my life and I'v seen very little evidence of any form of LGBT scene, apart from strawberry fair of course.

The Strawberry fair isn't gay at all, what are you talking about? It's just full of stupid (but normally straight) hippie-throwbacks and pissed up (and straight) youths.
Lol cool it kermit, well i go every year and more often then not have seen at least one LGBT stand and alot of rainbow flags.I met my girlfriend there, after her university's LGBT group arranged a visit to it. So there was at least two non-straight pissed hippy throwbacks there. Sorry for any upset caused, I really didnt think it would be worth getting annoyed over
K.T.

You could also try the Sunday Socials - they organise things like pub meets, cinema trips, bowling, going for lunch, etc.

Do you know if anything like this is being organised this year? I'm another non-clubby type and the revs night seems to be the only major thing going on that I've heard about...
