Btw - i understand that we need tp make 6 choices ie 3 for LSE halls and 3 for intercollegiate residence. Does haapad works such that we can have like first choice at a Lse hall, second choice at a intercollegiate hall etc or its just done randomly? Thanks

Yeah I like it, it's a great location and my flatmates are all really friendly and clean. It's kind of noisy, they often start work at around 9 AM and even though I'm on the 8th floor, I can hear the drilling and stuff. However, you get used to it, and a lot of the time you're out to uni before 9 anyway so it shouldn't matter too much.
No I'm pretty sure you can't do that. You have to choose EITHER LSE halls or intercollegiate halls as your preferred choice, and then list your 3 choices in order for each category.

Hi, I am currently thinking hard which one to choose for the accommodation among Lilian Knowles, Butlers Wharf and Sidney Webb.

My friends graduated from LSE last year recommended me Lilian Knowles but it seems that it's not very popular on this thread... I don’t mind travelling by tube or sharing a bathroom so Butlers wharf sounds not that bad considering the price. However, I am wondering if there are any supermarkets in Tower bridge area. I love cooking so prefer to have supermarkets near by. I understand that there is borough market but they open only few days a week, right?

so anyone who lived in the among those three, could you please advise me which one would you recommend?

the way people are allocated is a mystery, the accommodation office probably do consider your choices and your preferences that you put down on the form, but not everyone gets their first or even second choice and many dont even get and LSE hall, they get UoL intercollegiate ones..

unless someone works in accommodation posts here, it will always be a mystery!

most halls have some sort of renovation going on or road works outside etc.

I would highly appreciate it if anyone could fill in the following 4 questions about Roseberry, bankside, CS, College Hall (Inter), Connaught (inter), International (inter) and the three Garden Halls Hughes, Canterbury and Commonwealth.
Just fill in whichever one you go to please, this will help me tons and I am pretty sure it will help people in the future too.

1. What are the toilets like ? (the more detail the better) Is it a room with the toilet, sink and shower together all behind one closed door ? Or is the toilet behind a different door and the sink and the shower elsewhere ? Or is it like the public toilets in Mcdonald's where you have open sinks and then toilet cubicles ? Roughly how many people are there to a toilet and shower ?

2. Are there kitchens ? What do the kitchens contain ? Roughly how many people are there to a kitchen ?

3. What catered meals do you get and were they included in the price ?

4. Is there a minimum contract length that you must pay for the room for, eg 31 weeks, 40 weeks etc ?

Basically i love a party and will be out most of the time. I would prefer to be in halls where the students also love a party, which halls would be the best for this? Im not really fussed about whether i live in an LSE hall just as long as i get my own room and bathroom.

Just to clarify i welcome your suggestions on:
The most sociable halls?
(Single en-suite only)

The only LSE halls with single ensuite are bankside ones.
Most of the intercollege ones have single ensuites I think though.

Thanks. Can i ask if the rooms at HH are really bad? Someone mentioned that the rooms are really extremely old, in bad shape and very small. Mentioned that toilets are like those in the airplanes. Got me worried as i had that as my second choice

Uh they're really not that bad... my room is somewhat small but I've seen other people's rooms (even those who don't have newly refurbished ones) and they're nice! There is a range of room sizes I guess, it just depends upon where on the floor you end up. The toilets aren't bad either. It's a typical residence hall, so seriously don't worry about it.

Connaught and College are really good UoL halls. I have a lot of good friends from Connaught. And they're not all really big, Connaught is about 200 people, and College about 350.

Good as in social? What are the general rations of people from each uni -- ie, is one more represented than the others?

Yep super social. Uhh I'm not entirely sure, but UCL is usually really well represented (probably because of their bigger undergraduate population as compared to the rest of the UoL colleges). However, Connaught this year is full of LSE people, College less so.
