hey guys i'm not sure if this is the place to post this thread..but my laptop (HP pavilion dv6000) has recently started making noise in the fan..and its really getting irritating now the laptop is not even a year old and i "let it breathe" by not blocking the fan or anything and letting it overheat. so i was wondering if any of you guys know why this is happening and what to do? thanks
its bound to happen sooner or later mine started making noise after a week i went to pc world and they said it was normal it is extremely irritating but you get used to it
My PC gets this problem about every 4 or 6 months - I call it the 'tractor attack' (as it sounds here). Today I finally found the time to open up the box to find about 1cm of dust clogged up in the fan. See I'm not sure if you can take it out so I just took out all the dust using a cotton bud. Done the trick and haven't heard the noise the whole day and probably wont for at least another 4 months.
I don't know if you can open up to the fan of the laptop, but it probably needs cleaning.

WARNING No one try this unless you are absolutely certain about what you are doing. You may do more harm than good.
I thought the dv6000 had some sort of glue problem so they updated 'it' ('it' being BIOS/drivers/something i can't remember) so that the fan would run constantly or at high speed so that it wouldn't overheat or something...I have lost the source for this though....I may go and have a hunt on the internet
