I am running Mandrake 10 on my desktop on an old 4.3GB hard drive!! I didn't want to risk splitting my exisiting windows partition up.

I am running Vector Linux on my ancient P233MMX 64MB RAM laptop, I think its the only version of linux which will happily run hot swapable USB pen drives and Firefox 1.0 with such low specs. Windows 98SE certainly could not manage that without crashing.

I find the font looks horrible in Firefox on Mandrake, but in other flavours of Linux its fine. I am not sure how to change the default font though, it subsitutes Arial with somthing which looks a bit nasty.

OK, might as well:

Gentoo with 2.6.11 kernel on my main PC
Debian unstable on my laptop (not sure what kernel, and it's turned off right now)
Debian testing on my server (2.6.8)

To fix the fonts, try installing the Microsoft Web Fonts if you don't have them (arial, comic sans, verdana, etc)

I having a problem installing the v1.5 JAVA JDK. I get the error:

current locale is not supported in X11, locale is set to CX locale modifiers are not supported, using defaultThe installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag.

the console and silent flags dont help Im gonna try the 1.4.2 JAVA SDK instead see if that works
