Does anybody take a mobile phone with them to an exam and leave it in their bag or pocket switched off? Or is there a completely zero tolerance policy of no mobile phones at all allowed at your exam centre?
Re: Exam halls could be insulated to stop mobile phone cheats
Most of us are in love with our iPhones, Blackberry, and various other handsets, we rely on them for the time, well alot of us do lol music, internet, facebook etc
So you leave it with the examiners? What if it gets mixed up with somebody elses? So it is acceptable to take a mobile phone, but it must be left in your bag and be switched off?

Yeah, that doesn't really seem like a cost effective answer. To be honest, I don't think it's that big a problem - I don't know of anyone who got caught with a mobile who took it in the hall for the purpose of cheating.

Fair enough. Thoug exam halls are pretty large generally, and at the schools with the worst offenders for cheating may not be able to afford such large insulation-y ideas. Though, I realise that's a very big generalisation and may not be the case in some (or most) places.

But our assemblies are in the same hall as our exams. This would mean having to sit through 20 minutes of hymns and school board announcements with no phone

Well, we don't bring bags in with us. Also, we have raffle type tickets with numbers on, one for the examiner and one for us. You keep the other half of the ticket and get your phone back at the end.
And if you rely on your phone so much that you need it 24/7 and so much so, you take into an exam, then that's just a little weird, in my opinion.

I can't get your Kings Of Leon Spotify playlist to work.

I guess I will just leave my phone at home, and rely upon my digital watch to tell the time! I think you get so used to looking at your mobile to tell the time and the calendar features reminders etc.

It wouldn't surprise me if the whole Faraday cage idea was made in jest, prompting the Daily Mail to print headlines like "ZOMG FARADAY CAGES DUE IN 2011 COSTING TAX PAYER £15GAZILLION".
