Serial Dilution

So I need to make a serial dilution of a solution which is approximately;

3 x 10^-3 mol dm^-3

Which I think is equivalent to 1g dm^-3...

Anyway, I'm not a chemist and I have no idea where to start with this, I preferably need 5 different dilutions.

That's only one dilution, what are the other concentrations you require, and the molecular mass of the substance you are trying to dilute?

Concentration= mass (or moles)/volume
