one final :

the constant quotes and corrections are exactly the reason why TSR, and student life is not for me. I find education so hard, so hard to be correct in every word, every sentence. I find writing hard, I am dyslexic though. so to hell with it!

you can do better than that... my dads a doctor and he earns in excess of £130,000 a year... plus he gets to fly all over the world... hes going to australia in sept for a conference (all paid for)

is this like an average for all doctors? is your dad a gp or hospital doctor-consultant or something?

why the hell do doctors complain all the time about their salary and work stress, they seem pretty overpaid for what they are doing

sorry, i dont mean to sound bitter and ignorant, i do realise that saving peoples lives rates pretty high on the job ladder- but getting £130,000 in public services!!!

Actually, of the three schools I've attended (all private), they all required entrance tests. I know that there is quite a large waiting list for my school at the moment, so it's not really a case of "as long as they've got the money".

In my opinion it's most certianly deserved. I think the massive amount of responsibility that you assume every day merits decent salaries. Plus you have to deal with threats of litigation from time to time, as well as people running around telling everybody who'll listen that you murdered their mother.

Should get paid more I reckon.

heres a list of highest paid jobs in UK.
surprisingly doctors come third on average, higher than lawyers, sales directors and peope in IB . then why are lawyers and banker and other city professions always seen as greedy and lucrative and rolling in cash? whereas doctors working in public services who have really good job security are always complaining annd threatening to strike etc.

It strikes me as utterly pointless to group some of those professions as in that table. Surely coroners earn, on average, much less that lawyers? If so, why put them in the same group? I could group medical practitioners, for example, with leisure and theme park attendants, and then ask you why doctors are getting paid much less than actuaries.

Well all(?) coroners are solicitors, and usually senior ones.

You're right - I learn something new every day! In response to your semi question, most are lawyers, but some are doctors (from the home office website).

They have to get very good A' levels, go through 5 or 6 years of university and then do 7 years of post grad before they become consultants with nice pay packets. The course terms are longer, so they will be in *a lot* more debt when they come out of university, and earning around £25k as a PRHO to cover it.

After this, doctors will be working long hours and will (probably. I don't know if it's been written in yet) be tested every 5 years when they become consultants. I don't think I've signed myself upto years of affluence by applying to med school... I think I've signed myself upto years of struggling to pay for food, accomodation and other things.

Ah professional gambling.... it's got a strange appeal to it.
But if I look at it seriously, to earn the type of salaries being talked about on here you'd have to risk a lot. And I just wouldn't have the guts for that. Or one of these 'foolproof' systems, which must take so long to perfect (and many costly mistakes, one would assume) that hell, you deserve your money.

I've just worked out my aim in my career, its to be rich enough so that my kids brag about me on internet forums!

A professional card counter gambler in Las Vegas was banned from all the casinos because he totally cleaned out each one he went to. It was in the news a few months ago I believe.

Our woeful materialistic society. If collecting rubbish interested me or made me happy, I would do it. Do a job that makes you happy, otherwise you'll be unable to sustain an erection by 40, will be divorced by 43 and will be looking forward to death by 50.

Yeah...but dnt u want more out of life? Having an ordinary job isn't going to get you much (in terms of happiness). Why live a bog stdard life where you struggle to pay your bills .etc

And as for doctors, my GP owns a Mercs S class and apparently has his own yacht. That's pretty cool! There must be happiness with things like that.

happiness?for christs sake he is probably driving mad because of the loans he has to pay back for his car, yahct, house.
But i personally want to experience of the feeling of living rich and I dont really care how much stress I will experience as long as I will make good money. I know this may sound shallow, but people are different and want different things.
