Lightbulb Help please!

Hi.

I want to do History at uni and I've done work experience in a library as my form tutor said that we must have some to put on our personal statement.

Today I was told by my tutor that this has no relevance and I need to do some 'appropriate' work shadowing. Although if I did some in the natural history museum it still probably wouldn't be good enough

I just wondered if anyone else who has applied has needed work experience on their personal statement?

Thanx

It does tend to help, especially with subjects which have high competition. Try and get a variety of work experiences, so as you said, working in the natural history museum and some other places.

Work experience is helpful but not essential.

What kat2pult said is a good idea - try and get as many history-related work experiences as possible, such as helping at a school, museums like you said (I don't see why a natural history wouldn't be good enough.....). Try a lot of museums. I think History might be a competitive course so try and get as much as you can in order to stand out.

To be honest I'm thinking of just not applying and getting a job somewhere. Thanks anyway.
