Tom and I were taking the mick the other night when we announced that the Brett Domino trio were performing.

there have been many many rumours floating about but the official line-up is:

    Wiley
    Mystery Jets
    Goldie Lookin chain
    Steve appleton
noasis and a few other acts....

not to mention the event is being compared by Aled from the Chris Moyles Show.

Thanks, I love the Mystery Jets but I'm not sure if its worth the £45. If anyone's been before whats it like? Is it formal dress?

its a fantastic even spread over about 7 hours... it is formal dress but its something you have to experience once during your time at bangor.

this year's summer ball is set to be more impressive than last years, there won't be such things as VIP areas this year and no preferential treatment (bar balcony passes which are because of a security issue) the £45 ticket is cheap for what you are getting, 2 headline acts which cost about £7-8 of your total ticket price, the other costs involve hiring the venue, getting the production in all the screens (3 on the main stage) lighting the inner quad, the sound systems and lighting rigs, not to mention the projections and videos. there will be entertainments such as a big wheel and potentially a few other fairground style amusements.

there is the cocktail/chillout room in Powis hall and a huge marquee outside which is split up into different areas such as a casino, bar and a disco room, also a stage with some live acts performing.

the next edition of Seren will have a cost breakdown of your ticket price... honestly this year you are getting so much value for money and its going to be something special to mark the 125th Anniversary of the university.

Thank you, it does sound good. I'm a bit confused as to where the Mystery Jets will play, will that be in the quad too?

the inner quad this year is going to have projectors in it, but I can't really give too much away. some of the suspense is not knowing what to expect when you get there.

the inner quad is the best place to go to have your photo taken and you can go down onto the grass. Adam (entertainment Manager for the union) may still change a few things but on the whole its set out to be a great night.

Mystery Jets will probably be playing about 1:30 in the morning.

if last year is anything to go by it'll probably be something along the lines of:

Steve Appleton opening at about 9:00 - 10:00
    Goldie lookin' chain 10:30 - 11:30
Wiley going on about Midnight - 1 am
    Mystery Jets 1:30 - 2:30
    2:30 to close noasis

it'll be juggled about, each act usually does about a 45 minute set but in the times above I've given an approximation of the hours they'll be between though I could be completely wrong.

All the main acts will be performing in PJ hall on the stage as far as I can tell, but Steve Appleton may perform in the marquee... honestly there will be more information released over the next week or so, hopefully you'll get a better picture from the booklets that are being produced this year to introduce you to the ball and the acts performing.
