The question goes along the lines of:
Suggest reasons for the variation in the rates of popluation change shown in Figure 6....


Figure 6 is just several examples of figures about Birth and death rates in several MEDC's and LEDCs such as
UK: 12 Birth rate per thousand and 10 Death rate per thousand
Sierra Leone: Birth rate 47 Death Rate 24

Ohh and its 6 marks
Do you have different dates? Like two sets of data for the UK in different years, or just those? Basically.... UK has better medical facilities and healthcare than Sierra Leone, so lower death rate. And higher birth rate in Sierra Leone because education of women is poorer, whereas women in the UK are educated about contraception and stuff like that. Plus Sierra Leone women, living in an LEDC, have more children in the hope that more survive to look after them when they get old.

Thanks very much and no im afraid there are no comparable dates just the one set of data with slightly more countries including Malawi, Botswana,Iran,China,UK and Sierra Leone

No probs. Just make sure you talk about the differences between MEDC and LEDC countries, why the birth rate would be higher in LEDCs than MEDCs, and why the death rate is generally lower in MEDCs, using the info above, and make sure you refer to the data that they've given you :smile:
