No, my loan is less than that, I'm living at home. 1750 I think.
If the bursary is more than the grant, then I can use that to pay the grant back.

Seems a strange bit of a mix-up. And I don't think I'm alone in it. But I'll talk to SFC and see what they say. thanks for your help.

Just as an afterthought... I'm a NI student, that probably wouldn't make any difference?
No, being a NI student doesn't make a difference. If you were from the Republic, then it would be more complicated!

    Hi there,

I'm from the Republic of Ireland and I have firmed BSc Dietetics for Hertfordshire. I was told at the interview that the course is NHS funded and that my tuition fees would be paid for even though I am a. Irish and b. already have an Irish degree. This is the only reason I firmed.

Now I need to know what happens next. I have only heard from UCAS saying congrats on firming my place, no letter from the college yet. Should the NHS be in contact soon about the tuition fees?? or do they get automatically get paid?? I know I'm not eligible for the bursury of any grant.

    Thanks a mill!!!

You don't do anything, as the fees are automatically paid for Irish students.

I haven't heard a single thing from NHS Bursaries yet and I firmed my offer in April. Is this normal? Thanks.

If you don't know the address, put co-habiting, and add a note/send a note saying that the address is pending. You will need to update your address once you find out.

No you don't need to declare it, as it is untaxable income and they automatically expect you to apply for the loan (if you haven't applied yet, do this ASAP).

    Hi everyone

I will be entering my final year studying OT this Sept.
I applied for my bursary using the BOSS online tool. My parents' salaries have not increased since last year and my rent is the same.
However the bursary notified is about 1/3 of what I received this year (Yr 2).
I don't understand why it has decreased so much (from £100/mth this year to £30/mth in year 3).
It says that my total days on course is 210 (= 30wks).
Does anyone know what would cause the big reduction?
I also need to cope with a reduced student loan also!!!

Because returning students can apply through the online system this year, they have had a glinch which means everyone is being assessed for 30 weeks attendance, instead of the usual 36/7/8 weeks. They are aware of this and are in the process of re-assessing everyone who has been affected by this glinch. I was also affected and my bursary was assessed to be almost £1000 less than last year!

Aww thanks for the reply. I'll leave it for a few days then before ringing them.

You can't really put anything until you have the relevant evidence to send along with it (i.e. a tenancy agreement). Put N/A if you can, if not, put a close estimate according to the accommodation prices at your uni.

Thank you, I don't think I'll be living in halls, gonna get a flat or lived in shared accomadation, so should I just put a close estimate of the average monthly rent I will be paying

That's what is probably best for now, then you can update your information and evidence later once everything is definite.

Is there a certain date we need to apply for our bursaries by?

On your letter from the NHS bursaries it should state a provisional deadline to ensure you get your bursary by the start of term, but in reality you have until 6 months after the start of your course to apply.

That's great thanks because my parents are divorcing and I think my bursary amount will change after that. At least I'm hoping
