If you tell them on the form how much the rent is, and then send proof of your room/deposit receipt/anything else that can prove you will be living there, you can send the tenancy agreement on later when you have officially be issued with one (presumably after results day).

I have a bit of a problem. I have been 'self-sufficient' since I graduated in June 2009, and I claimed benefits after I graduated because I could not get a job. However, about 2 months ago I went on a shredding expedition, and got rid of everything related to seeking Jobseekers. I have a form from HM revenue that says when my benefits ceased, but I do not have any letters or bank statements that demonstrate when I started claiming. What should I do?

    Hi there,

I am in excatly the same predicament as you! I also graduated in June 2009 and was claiming benefits for 3 months but in a spur of the moment decision when I got my first job, I decided to throw my benefits letters away!

I rang my local jobcentre who said they only keep local records for 2 years so I was advised to write to the main Jobcentre in Plymouth to ask for a letter of proof from the main database. I wrote to them 3 weeks ago and am still waiting for any sort of response . I also rang the bursary team who told me that my bank statements showing the benefits payment's aren't eligible as proof which seems a bit ridiculous to me but there you go!
Have you had any more luck? Any help would be great as this is the only thing holding up my application.

Another question. For about 6 months I lived off my own savings. How do I word this in my application?

 Still haven't heard from them. I received a reply to my email saying all students for September entry will hear by today, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

You can apply without an invite just look on the website for the "BOSS" application

Maintenance payments refer to money you spend yourself for/give to an ex-partner for the provision of dependants (i.e. children).

On their fb page they are telling people just to apply if they haven't had an email...i don't know why we couldn't do that in the first place!

Yeah I heard that you should call if you don't get it, though I hate talking over the phone. I've asked on the facebook page if I can apply with out calling, just waiting from them to reply.

Yeah I was just checking that now, I asked them about it because on the website it says "Only students invited to apply online should create an account and complete an application" It's a bit crazy, I thought we were supposed to know by May!

Anyone here applying for the first time for Nursing at University of Birmingham?

Are people just picking one of the disciplines as they don't have a general Nursing course as one of the options under 'Course Details'? I've emailed them about it but they weren't much help so was wondering if it was alright to choose whichever even though we don't choose until 2nd year.

I was wondering if anyone could help me?

On the Bursary Estimate Calculator - does the estimated amount include the new £1000 grant or not?

    Thanks.
