I figured it was time to start the new uber thread!
So let the new cycle of stress and worry begin
welcome all new applicants and hello to all us reapplicants
Just thought I'd add some sensibility to the inevitable panicking by pointing out that it is at least 4 and a half months before you will be sending off your applications .

Veterinary Medicine requires a lot of preparation long before UCAS opens.

yes but this is applying for veterinary and you don't understand what kind of effort you need to put in
Alas... On to pastures new. The old 2009 thread (# 2) soon to be cast form its prominant position at the top of the page... We least have to get it locked!
I do understand actually, but this doesn't mean that you need to start panicking 4 months before you apply .
They're not panicking. They're simply carrying on the tradition of the vet-med forum (we've had one of these threads every year for years) and looking to prepare themselves.
You'll find that vet med applicants start writing personal statements way before summer, to ensure they can send them off as early as possible to get in before the October deadline. They'll also be planning last minute summer work exp placements.
Opening up this thread just means they can discuss those sorts of issues without cluttering up the main board.
Then you've got the fact that the trend is that half the successful vet applicants from this year will disappear as uni starts - so starting the thread up now means that they'll still be around to offer advice to the new apps for a few months.
I see no mass hysteria, no-one sobbing that they've only got four months to write their personal statement - so why start criticising?!
Yeah! I'm well glad this has opened. I was considering making one, but I feel like too much of a 'newbie'. And I bet there's going to be lots of 'lurkers' posting now, who felt too shy before. This needs to be a sticky.
All the non-vet applicants:
We're not panicking, don't be silly. We're just preparing; there's so much to talk about with veterinary applications.
