Re: Whats the most ridiculous statement you have ever put in a exam?Yes, I enjoyed reading his meditations whilst snugged up in bed (just like he was near the fire(Original post by somethingbeautiful)
Ah, I loved studying Descartes in first year! Yeah, there surely is tons of reading - at least it's interesting though
).
I did my assignment on Hume and the credibility of his argument refuting miraculous events. Find out my grade when I get back so hopefully I have done well
What kind of stuff did you study after your first semester, like semester two onwards? -
Re: Whats the most ridiculous statement you have ever put in a exam? After 1st semester we did Ethics/Moral philosophy (my favourite) and since it was first year we had two modules which were focussed on interpreting philosophical texts of different varieties - to prepare us for 2nd year I suppose.(Original post by pinda.college)

We did Philsophy of Religion which a lot of us found quite easy but that was balanced out by quite a bit of work on Logic - which I found difficult (my least favourite topic!). We had to take a more in depth logic module in 2nd year too plus Metaphysics which is really interesting but difficult to get to grips with, oh plus Political Philosophy which is very enlightening.
In my final year I've taken modules on Existentialism/Religion/Eastern Philosophy and a dissertation. Good luck with your assignment result, I have a vague recollection of Hume from last year

Re: Whats the most ridiculous statement you have ever put in a exam?
These are hilarious :') Great post!
I can't think of much offhand
In a core physics exam on global warming (internally marked!) I drew a polar bear with a speech bubble saying 'I'm going to die because my iceberg is melting'.....my teacher then drew another speech bubble saying 'but i'll get a good sun tan'
legend.
Hmm...there was also a core biology paper containing the statement 'the baby is put into the womb. It is then born.' I wrote duh, simply because I was bored and I'm a bit of a smartypants
I also feel a bit of a weirdo when I write pretentious words like 'thus' and 'aforementioned' in an essay, but I do it nonetheless.

Re: Whats the most ridiculous statement you have ever put in a exam?My brother (who's 27 now) wrote in his English Literature about how "all of the kids in the end went mental and started eating each other" in Lord of the Flies. He got a D.(Original post by Nick_000)
Inspired by the General Studies thread where people are talking about how they just wrote crap.
So, what is the most ludicrous thing you have ever wrote in an exam? Also, which exam was it?
We had an English exam in June and, because 80%+ of the kids did really badly, they've entered everyone into the January re-sit, I got 40/40 in that exam so I'm just going to write the examinor a little note along the lines of "I already got an A* in this exam so you can go ahead and give me a U and collect your £4.50 for "marking" this paper. The scary thing is, I would probably get a G considering how little you need to write to get that. -

Re: Whats the most ridiculous statement you have ever put in a exam?
In a biology exam there was a question about why farmers breed rare breeds. Me being stupid and rather than putting something about genetics put so that they can open a rare breed farm to make more money. Somehow I don't think that is what they were after.
Oh and in an archaeology exam I had a question about museums and why some are better than others. I put about how I'd tried the children's activities in a museum to test them of which I enjoyed dressing up the most. Why did I have to go and put that? It might have been the truth but that was a serious exam.
The thing is I put both of these in seriously and then came out of the exam and thought why the hell did I go and do that?!Last edited by Tabers; 02-01-2012 at 13:10. -
