rep is basically a popularity contest.

if people like what you say- they give you rep points
if they dislike it they take ponits away.

it is done by clicking the little yelow button next to the reply butto nat the bottom of each thread.

to view your rep- you can either click your own yellow button or if you go into your control pannel you can see a breakdown of your points and how your reps been going recently, its at the bottom of the first page.

gems represent how much your rep is worth. the more points you have the more gems you have, the more your opinion matters.
