Re: Commutable Address Reject. You would essentially take over their 38 week contract, from where they leave. Believe me when I saw that people often leave [or are kicked out]. Not huge amounts, but I sizeable amount.(Original post by athuva)
But then is there not a 38 week contract meaning they can't leave?
Oh, and you can't apply for UoL halls without going through the QM application, Yazmina. -
Re: Commutable Address Reject.I'm a non-UK citizen, living currently and temporarily in a place that's 30 mins from QMUL; having a room in a flat that's in apartment building with a concierge and an on-site gym plus CCTV monitoring and stuff. I pay £590 pcm, so around £130 pw, plus once every 10 days or so there's a £20 electricity top-up to be paid for.(Original post by Democracy)
You need £190 pw minimum.
I have applied for a place on-campus - I'm eligible since my home address is 1000 miles from here, but if I won't get a place (got offered catered Intercollegiate Halls for over £600 pcm - too much, have rejected and now am on a waiting list for Mile End), I'm gonna stay where I am now for some time, no way I'm gonna go for private halls - what's with those rip-off prices?
Seriously, £190 per week is £800 per month, do they have jacuzzis in the rooms and private butlers for that price? There's rarely a single room to rent for that price, from what I've seen. Total rip-off, IMO, it's cheaper to get some folks and rent a whole flat from a private landlord, I think.

Re: Commutable Address Reject.
FYI all Greater London postcodes are automatically rejected and put onto the waiting list.
For the people that get rejected, a commute time is worked out using your home postcode and E1 4NS (College postcode) on tfl.gov.uk, for a 9am start on a Monday morning in September.
Some people will have commutes of 2 hours plus on this system so get re-enabled. Medium distance people are offered when places become available, and short distance people (less than an hour and a half) generally don't find anything.
Medics and dentists have a separate waiting list to the people on other courses.
