AQA A2 English Language - ENA6, Thursday 18th June 2009
A month to go now & I thought I'd start up the revision thread. The thread for ENA5 went quite well
Absolutely dreading this exam. I can't do editorial writing OR radio scripts!!! I've heard accents/dialects or spoken language could be the topic this year, or perhaps child language acquisition. Language & representation (gender, slang?) seems to have been the topics for the last 3 papers...

Hey I'm really stuck with this module on how to revise...I've managed to track down some old notes but I'm finding it hard 2 write editorials and feature articles.
Have not revised child langauge aquiation at all thats my weak topic, but I really should start...anyone got any advice on how to revise this module?
Any advice at all with this module will be greatly appreciated!

TSR has some notes in the ENglish revision section for writing an editorial that I found REALLY helpful, have a look
I don't know anything about child language acquisition either... can't help you there!!! but the best thing to do when you get the paper is read through all of the sources. that way if it's something you're not sure about you might get an idea from the other sources

I got an E on this module in January, it's so hit and miss. Lad who's going to oxford next year got a D, bets mark in the whole year was a B by someone who does two A-levels - I hate this exam.

I did ENA6 last year, before the AS, as it doesn't require all that much knowledge, except for the data question and research methodology. I quite liked doing the two-way analysis, but it was probably my text transformation and commentary that really let me down.

Yeah, this does look like the most "hit and miss" of all the English language exams. It's also got to by far the hardest, too.
Re: AQA A2 English Language - ENA6, Thursday 18th June 2009
ENA6 was also marked really harshly; 81.25% (65 raw) was required for 80% UMS in the Summer 2008 paper, more than any other unit (including the coursework), although I don't know whether that was just that ENA6 paper or a trend for ENA6.

Could we get some discussion going on the Language Aquisition, and Language change exam too. How is everybody revising? papers on AQA are limited due to copyright, so at the moment im just looking at some text from my teachers, and reading through a text boox.

Ok, anyone know what the UMS boundaries are for each grade, roughly? I just need to know what grade I'd get if I needed only 70 UMS... I didn't too well in my mock exam
