Re: TSR Tory Question TimeDo you like JPKC?(Original post by Rakas21)
The Conservative Party is pleased to announce that it has come to a coalition agreement with both UKIP and JPKC.
We hope that we can raise the bar higher than ever before. -
Re: TSR Tory Question TimeI think we'll be fine, we've developed this thing called bills you see, but being in labour you probably haven't seen much of them in the last 6 months...(Original post by DebatingGreg)
I, too, congratulate Rakas. Let us hope that a government with such a narrow majority shall be able to sustain itself. -

Do you like JPKC?
just to make it clear i'm not necessarily speaking for the party here, but I personally have seen a great improvement in JPKC's conduct since the election, and would have no issues working with him these days.
I think that his policies are workable with ours, and that he could prove a valuable addition to this coalition -
Re: TSR Tory Question TimeI think you'll find we proposed as many bills as the Tories last term(Original post by Moleman1996)

I also look forward to working with the next SOS for defence and discussing defence issues with him/herLast edited by wizardtop; 07-04-2012 at 11:39. -
Re: TSR Tory Question Time
As they haven't yet been answered in the Ask the Coalition Thread, and it was you who actually formulated the motion, here's some questions:
Can you confirm that you were working with the MUN rep for Jordan "long before" it was suggested by Labour?
If so, why did they submit the motion before they had had a response from the rep?
Why did they not mention the fact that they were in talks with the MUN rep in the thread, until JPKC mentioned it after Labour had said their opinions on the matter? -
Re: TSR Tory Question Time
In light of comments made by senior members on the monarchy referendum thread, does the TSR Conservative Party have any principled opposition at all to revolutionary schemes of unprecedented constitutional reform? If not, may I humbly suggest that for the electorate's benefit it changes its name to the "Fiscal Responsibility Party", or perhaps the "Cut-the-deficit-and-shrink-the-state-but-not-by-too-much Party"?
-
Re: TSR Tory Question TimeIn said referendum we are acting as individuals, and not in our capacity as party members. When we join lobbying groups, we are also acting as individuals for this matter, and our views are by no means that of the party. The party currently has no stance on the referendum, and intends to let its members vote as they please, just as non-affiliated members of TSR will be able to.(Original post by JacobW)

Re: TSR Tory Question Time-shrugs-(Original post by ed-)
A Conservative who opposes the monarchy should be banned from being associated with the party.
The clue's in the name
The Conservative Prime Minister and the Conservative Transport Secretary are both republicans, and there are probably others I'm not aware of. -
Re: TSR Tory Question TimeWell it's hardly the Conservative party any more ...(Original post by TopHat)

Re: TSR Tory Question TimeIt still is to a degree (we do have our social authoritarians in the ranks) but most students are liberal in social views.(Original post by ed-)

Well it's hardly the Conservative party any more ...
I think that our diversity gives us the edge on social issues, we end up with well rounded policies that cater to all needs on issues. Economically we are still, i'd say, very conservative, and on some issues such as Education, we are more conservative than the RL party, e.g. our education secretary favours the reintroduction of grammar schools I believe.(Original post by Rakas21)
It still is to a degree (we do have our social authoritarians in the ranks) but most students are liberal in social views. -
Re: TSR Tory Question TimeIf you feel that way, you could always join their party and try to alter the views to what you view as more Conservative over time.(Original post by ed-)

Re: TSR Tory Question TimeI don't see how your views on the monarchy makes you authoritarian or liberal?(Original post by Rakas21)
It still is to a degree (we do have our social authoritarians in the ranks) but most students are liberal in social views.
Either way, the traditional stance of the Tories on change is that it accepts change, but believes it should be organic. Abolishing the monarchy would definitely not be organic
I have joined - just not sure how it all works on here(Original post by toronto353)
