sdiana91
awww, you probs did better then me tho! mine was like a story too and when i was writing i was like 'STOP NARRATING!!' but i just couldn't,lol, so every so often i would go ' and that's how the economy began to transform' or something stupid like that! lol.

it bugs me so much as i revised soooooo frickin much and i knew like everything, exams just don't let me show that.. :frown:

still got british side left... kinda worried about that tho :s-smilie: gonna start revising for it like tonight or something as i've not gona through it at all!

aw no me toooo i was exactly the same:frown: Soo so annoying. What section are you doing for britain? I find britain the harder side which is even more annoying!!

I done "to what extent were the bolsheviks opponents weaknesses the main reason for their survival from 1917 to 1924?

and "to what extent had Stalin created a personal dictatorship between 1929 and 1939.

My plans for both, are these OK???

1) Intro
Weaknesses of opponents - PG, civil war
Terror - army, trotsky, police
Lenin's leadership - civil war based near resources etc
Propaganda - Mother russia etc
Conclusion

2) Intro
Purges = only person left so personal dictatorship
Cult of Personality = got the 'personal' part to the dictatorship
Collectivisation = Controlled agriculture and got rid of kulaks
Five yr plans = Controlled economy
Conclusion

For the last one I ran out of time so I had to merge the collectivisation and five year plan paragraphs, is that alright only having 3 'point' paragraphs?

well i did the second one you did... and only mentioned cult of personality and terror!! making it an awful essay. yours sounds veryy good.. i mean, i didnt even have a conclusioN!
I did :

1) Bolshevik survival

Intro
Civil war
Pragmatic nature
Leadership - Lenin Trotsky
Unity
Centralisation/dictatorship

2) Stalins economic policies
Intro
Output
Efficiency
Workers lives/living condition
Towards War economy

That was with collectivisation and 5YP

It could have gone a lot better, could have been worse however

Where was the revolutions?!?!?! Stalins rise !?!?

Yeah I hated it.

Worst part was I didn't realise there was a seperate section for the second answer so I just began writing it after my first until I noticed where I was supposed to have put it.

In my rage I immediately crossed it all out and then realised how stupid this was because I could have just written a note to tell the examiner to look earlier; and I then had about 10 minutes to do the whole question. Which ended up as little more than an introduction.

Terrible.

Lots of people made that mistake - although without crossing it out :frown:

Oh ok.

There is a small change they might read it because I didn't cross it out excessively - just lines through it.

But I don't know if they have to automatically not mark anything I'd crossed out because they could i assume I didn't want them to see it.

So frustrating.
eurgh.. worst exam ever.
no actual event or anything. Just stupid collectivisation and Witte. lol. i wanted to do the the personal dictatorship but had a totalllll mind blank when it came to the dates and also i prefer the How far do you agree questions, So i just did 2 paragraphs saying collectivisatio was a FAILURE.. but then two saying ACTUALLYYY is was rather good, and a crappy conclusion. the thing that annoyed me about that question was the fact it specified economic policy. but social was the most significant thing of collectivisation so i was determined to get that in.
sorry for the rant. but that paper peeed me off.

I did very similar to you. Same questions. I can't remember the order of my points but the essays included:

1)
- Propaganda & Motivation - Bolsheviks were 'heroes'; defenders of the revolution; had a great purpose to fight for
- Bolsheviks controlled central Russia; this is where most of the industry was concentrated; they had control of press and great influence/control over communications, transport, weapons etc
- Red Army was great in number & strength due to July Days, opponents were split, wouldn't cooperate etc

(I wrote more for this but can't remember it, hehe)

2)
- The Great Terror; Purges led to removing all political opponents (mentioned Congress of the Victors/Damned; show trials), allowing totalitarian control
- The Great Retreat; Original Bolshevik liberalities such as expulsion of the bourgeois institution of 'family' were reversed; Stalin made great changes back to conservatism in order to preserve his reign (banning male homosexuality, abortion, bigamy, adultery; offering incentives for larger families etc)
- The Cult of Stalin (this isn't the right name, is it? XD); Presented Stalin as a God, his picture was everywhere, restrictions on artists musicians, etc.

I reckon we both did good, if not better.
I shouldve gone for the Stalins dictatorship as id revised the terror/great retreat well.. But i saw the question and thought i mightve got the wrong end of the stick so decided not to chance it so went with economic policies lol.

And with the economic policies of Stalin 5 year plans shouldve been there right?

yeaaah, i find britain harder too, it's not like essay style.. it's got like sources and you have to infer and stuff, bit confusing when you're under pressure! lol

umm, i'm doing attlee and thatcher and that lil bit in the middle in between the two.. how about you?

ooh nooo :s-smilie: how did you cross it out? because i mean if it's still readable then the examiner may still be able to mark it!?!
I did the Bolshevik survival and the Personal Dictatorship... I can't remember my exact points but I think it went really well! I managed to remember quite a lot of the dates and facts so hopefully it was pretty good!

For number one:

Intro
July Days/Kornilov affair (shows weakness of Kerensky), armed the Bolsheviks, brought them back from near dissolution.
Weakness of PG (temporary government, etc)
Dissolution of constituent assembly by the Bolsheviks: Jan 1918
Civil war: war of movement, disorganised whites (managed to throw general names and locations in, haha! Hope i get some extra marks for knowledge! )
(I put the treaty of Brest Litovsk in there somewhere but I can't remember why! Perhaps I went on a tangent, oops! )
Conclusion

Number two:
Intro
Bukharin kicked out of politburo 1929 - (not sure if this was relavent but I threw it in anyway! better to be safe than sorry!)
Controlling membership, believed spies were in the woodwork of the party
Show trials - 1936 Zinoviev, Kamanev, 1938 - Yagoda, Bukharin (despite flawless argument Bukharin still executed - showing dictatorship, etc)
Purges - momentum of their own, once targeted there was virtually no way of escaping it, etc.
NKVD - terror, force, propaganda
Cult of Stalinism
Conclusion

I think thats everything I put
Reply 234
I did bolshevik power:
Civil war
Propoganda
Use of terror
Lenin as a leader

Collectivisation transforming the economy:
Yes it did, but no it didn't at the same time
5 year plans
End of NEP
Use of terror to form a cheap labour force

I think i can kiss my C goodbye!
Reply 235
Well i think its safe to say i cocked this one up. Definately dropping history now.
We'll have to bump this up on results day

I hate to ruin the party here but anybody that talked about the weaknesses of the PG/July Days/anything before Oct 1917 isn't going to get marks for that part - it was about the survival of Bolshevik power from 17-24.
That said, I only focused on the Civil War, but I know I owned on the dictatorship question - did the terror and how it wasnt all him so not entirely personal, did the great retreat, cult and socialist realism and a tiny bit on economic policies - conclusion was he came across as personally in charge, and at some points he was, but he still had to pass a vote (which sometimes backfired - Riutin) and the secret police did a lot of stuff.
Good job i didnt write about that the,
